IMO, very poor choice on video card IMO. I would have bought one 6800GT or a 6800 Ultra for now. also would have got a Logitech MX-510 or a Microsoft Intellimouse (IMO, the best). For your other DVD drive would have went with a Samsung SD-816. Would have went with Crucial, OCZ, or Corsair ram too.
Func 1030 is best mousepad ever also!

The video card choice killed your score, sry. 🙁 Good choice on Mobo, DVD burner, PSU though!

I'm sure you'll be happy with it though.

I agree

What was it, chumbo.com or one of the other sites that just started listing the 6800GT for $399? Your figures are off. I paid $200 for my PCIe 6600GT. I expect to pay ~$400 for a 6800GT right now, and ~$500 for an Ultra. Are you saying you picked up two 6600GTs for $250???

i'd rate you a 7

ok, maybe you can rate mine too?

6. Not bad, but by todays standards, average upgrade....

Today's standards is a 17-19 in' LCD running on a Intel P4 with integrated graphics.

It's hard rating a computer. Like my computer does everything I need and then some, but to someone else it's not a SLI with 6800 Ultras on a FX-55. Your set up now, even with one 6600GT, you could still play a game like half life 2 at it's maximum detail. You won't be able to play it above 1280x1024 though if that's a big deal to you. (For at least a few months anyway).

I'm not a big fan on SLI either - so one 6800GT would of been a lot more viable to your needs.

6600GT PCIe is $160 shipped at ZZF right now. So $320 for SLI vs $400 for 6800GT PCIe at Chumbo. $80 difference and working VPU. He also has the option of selling one card later on if he chooses. It's personal preference but he's saving money.

Since theres a lot of talk about price...

ASUS A8N SLI Delux -$200

AMD Athlon 64 3200+ Processor Socket 939 Winchester- ~$200

1 gig Kingston HyperX dual channel -$170

NEC ND-3500A 16X Double Layer DVD±RW Bare Drive - I can burn norm dvds with this too, right?? - ~$65

2x eVGA e-GeForce 6600 GT PCI Express 128MB DDR3 Video Card w/HDTV-Out & DVI -~$320

Seagate Barracuda 7200.7 ST3160827AS 160GB Serial ATA 7200RPM Hard Drive w/8MB Buffer -$112

FORTRON Blue Storm 500W-$90

MOUSEPAD RAZER EXACTMAT-$25

Samsung Floppy-$7

DVD-E616P2 CD/DVD-ROM BLACK-$25

SOUND BLASTER|AUDIGY 2 ZS LTD gamer edition-$90 AR

WinXP HOME w/SP2-$90

Logitech Z-5300 Speaker System-120 AR

Sennheiser PC150 headset-$46

Razer Diamondback-~$55

Aspire X-Dreamer II BLK-~60

So... about $1585.

6.5/10.....Same with alot of people, the video cards i'm not liking. Should have got a NF3 Board with 6800 Gt. Or if its not to late, cancel the video cards and get 2 6800 Ultras, talk about flying now.

$550 for a 6800gt! Ouch! Yeah, it kinda sucks with all the price gouging going on. I plan on waiting a few months until supply increases and demand/prices decrease. I also have to get enough money...

www.chumbo.com has a bfg 6800gt pci-e for 399.99 plus free shipping which is prolly about what you paid for your 2 6600gts with the same performance

I give you a 9 out of 10.
6600 GTs are the best price point right now(2 good pci-x ones for apout 350) and I doubt seriously you'll regret using 2.
I think what the naysayers are missing is that SLI will likely perform better as we go with BIOS upgrades to the mobo's and the cards so the system will improve as time passes. Not that a 6800 GT or Ultra would be a bad buy but I can certianly see 2 6600GTs as legit as well. A pretty big added bonus is you can always use just 1 of them if you need to sale one or you have one crap out. It leaves you open to a little more in the way of overclocking and taking risks. The other thing is you'll know how to set up the sli to max advantage if you keep working with it while the single card guys won't. Also if you have decent game sin your Card bundle you can sell the extra ones on here or ebay for a litle extra cash and end up paying say 300-315 bucks for 2 very good cards.

The mobo is the one I am planning on myself.
I like the DVD selections and overall think the system will be pretty awesome.

You did very well IMHO on the mobo(which will like the sli improve with BIOS upgrades and will be painless to apply with Asus' Bios tools.), the DVD burner, sound card, and power supply.

Yes you can quite easily burn in either dvd5 or dvd9 with the NEC 3500.

This system is not all that different form one I plan to buy in late January once the board has been proven stable and capable. If I cant find a good deal on a Leadtek or BFG 6800 GT(the ultra doesnt offer SLI) at the time I may well go 2 6600 GT's myself.

Have fun and shake the haters off.

Another uninformed opinion.

You cant run two Ultras and even if you could that 1000$.

Yes that chumbo deal is about the best you can find right now. I'd probably recommend it over the 2 6600 Gts but thats about the only deal right now I'd suggest over what he chose. The Best Buy BFG 6800 deal owned but is dead🙁

If I do go 6600 GT I am choosing the Leadtek because of system heat. With 2 average 6600 GTs ina box with an overclocking Intel chip you wouldn't need to turn on the heater in the house. LOL.

OK. For you people that say The 6800gt is the same price, think again. At ZZF, you can get an eVGA 6600gt for $159. so two of them are $320, thats a savings of $80 for the same (if not better) performance
