upgrading from my signature

DS3P Rev 2 $150ish from newegg
Q6600 $279 from Newegg
2x1gb ballistix $39.99 buy.com GC
any $30 SATA DVD burner


i know this is the typical build, but i didn't read through the million posts in the motherboards section.

is there anything i should know about when combining those parts with

2 x 150gb raptors
seagate 7200.10 sata
lian li V1000 case (upside down motherboard, heatpipe problem?)
8800gt
FSP Epsilon 600 watt PSU

Out of curiosity, is there any reason why you're going with the P35-DS3R? You can't SLi with it, and you're only using one video card anyways, so is this necessary to you? You're spending money on it, just making sure you need it.

He's not using the P35-DS3R, he's using the 965P-DS3P rev 2.0.
The DS3P rev 2.0 does support CrossFire.

i chose it because the difference between the ds3P and the ds3R is only $13. ]

the differences as i understand it is 4 more USB slots and 1 more PCI x16 slot, worth $13 to save any hassle to me... right?

The 965P-DS3P uses a 965 chipset while the P35-DS3R uses the newer P35.
I'd go with the P35 version for sure. :laugh:

Same here, given the choice. For only $13 I'd prefer the newer chipset. Read the 965P Vs P35 chipset review from a few months ago for the motherboard comparison.

yeaa i didn't get the 965 board, i got the GA p35-ds3p can someone give me some good guides on how to overclock using the board's bios? i'm a noob to overclocking

Try the sticky at the top of the overclocking forum. It's about overclocking C2D's/C2Q's.
