look at anandtechs review of the 3800 x2 x2 3800 vs 830

they are comparing it to the 830 not the 820 your were thinking of buying

10 bucks more for that performance boost + less heat + less power consumption

also look at the tomshardware review (which is an intel-biased website), they were using beta bioses of an x2 with ecc registered ram (which is slower than regular ram) vs a pentium-d, the intel chip kept crashing, the x2 is far more reliable

Funny how person asks for opinion and yet is closed minded and does not want to hear the truth. HT never gave Intel an performance edge and that being said Intel dual core procs have to share the poor 800 mhz FSB between the cores increasing latency and also not performing to full spec whether HT is or is not enabled. HT is a sham.

its ok, the OP is retarded

BTW, here is my rating on your rig since you asked for it.

0/10

I PM'ed the mods to ask them to edit these retarded extra-long lines, but nothing has happened yet. Maybe they don't care. 🙁

It is surprising that the OP has been here so long, yet fails to see through his own fanboyishness that people are just trying to help, but now everyone has a much lower opinion of him because he's making a jackass of himself.

What long lines? ;P

I'm making a jackass of myself because I prefer Intel?

all of you can kiss my ass. There is nothing false or misleading in any of my posts, you are all just hating on me because I am set on getting Intel.

I've used both Intel and AMD, and I prefer Intel for various reasons. Call that fanboyish, but you're just making a jackass of yourself, while you all are calling the kettle black.

Whatever. I'm done with this thread.

I don't recall asking what processor I should go with ANYWHERE in my post. kthxbye

you ask use to rate your build, so we tell you it sucks because you can spend the same amount and get better performance in virtually EVERYTHING. who cares about what brand it is, look at the performace and the fact that it will use less power and will be cooler.

you sir, are a dumba...butt

No, but you ought to know that posting such a thread in an AMD dominated forum is going to get you exactly what you got (unfortunately).

You'll need to put a better flame suit on if you want to come in here with threads like this. 😀

SHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!

Also, the long lines were made by the HAAAAAAAAAAAHAAA post!

The problem is that HardTech neglected to mention in his original post that he weights his perception of intel quality so highly that he will give up substantial performance gains in some areas to keep the intel brand.

Without this "intel is my only choice" disclaimer, why wouldn't all of the advice for improving his choices be to move to an A64 offering better performance?

I recommend intel when it makes sense, and am using one right now (P4 3.2C).

You suck at building PCs!

lots of pro AMD, but I would have to say...

a 3800+ X2 retail bundle combo with a Neo 4 platium at mwave.,com can be had for 382 (cpu) and 166 (mobo)...you can get the Neo4-f mobo for 80 bucks if you wish but not feature rich.....

I think the 3800+ at stock will kill a 820, heck it usually beats the 840's, let alone the 830 all the time....If you OC this thing mioldly with average cooling you should get it to 2.4ghz and take 4-4.2ghz out of that P4 to beat that...and that my friend is going to take luck and some water cooling....

I don't think anyone here would argue that the D 820 will outperform the 3800+. Or that it (820) is a better value, neither of which is true.

The OPs complaint was that he asked for a critique of his Intel build and got nothing but "use AMD!" type responses.

The whole focus has changed after AMD introduced X2 3800+. I was elevated by PD 820's cheap price but now I have better options to select from. The only problem I see is AMDs availability.

The only saving-grace left for Intel is to lower PD prices down to $50. If that happens, I shall give second thought.
