If you are planning on overclocking, I would go for the DFI Nforce 4 motherboard.

Sounds like the beginnings of a quiet PC (I like!). All you have to do is make sure you got quiet case fans and fan controllers, and do something about that insane loud-a$$ 8000RPM Asus NB fan! Good luck!

Thanks for the comments, at least i know I am on the right track.

Yes I planned to OC, in fact, the 3200 venice review is what inspired me to upgrade my computer and I will be very satisfied with 2.8ghz. I am using an Athlon 1.3ghz with geforce4 440 for 4-5 years, go figure :)

Depending on how noisy the chipset fan is (everyone says it's noisy, i have to see for myself), I will be switching to the zalman 47J. I am trying to make a very quiet system because it is about 2m from my bed :p

Only with luck will you reach 2.8ghz with that motherboard and ram. Tests amongst fellow anandtech members have shown that the venice will reach out to 2.6ghz average (typical of the early winchesters).

The San Diego has been shown to reach 2.8ghz and upwards. If you must reach 2.8ghz, I'd get a San Diego Cpu and some Ocz VX ram.

K8N does better in benchmark than A8N... check out some benchmarks.. not huge difference tho.. but DFI tops all..

I don't know how to comment without details like budget limitations, the use of the computer, etc. It's just a bunch of circuit boards and memory modules otherwise.

I live in canada, noone sells DFI boards around here.
Whats wrong OCing with A8N?

From what i heard, the bus limit is about 295, which should be plenty with a 10x multiplier.
Can the board not provide the needed voltage?

I'm gonna stick with 939 socket and pci-e for upgradeability as well as *personally* trusted brands like asus even if it means a 10-20$ difference

I'm just curious if the A8N-E can handle the OC i want(2.8ghz...280x10).

i dont oc but it might depend what your bios lets you do. it has to let you set the proper voltage settings to oc. i would search some forums with that particular board and see what others are doing if you already havent done so.
