Ratchet & Clank!

it's not a "new" one. it's yet another remake of the first one. i hear they updated some stuff and added things here and there, but i'm probably the biggest R&C fan there is and i'm passing on this because i don't support hd remakes. i'll probably buy it used for like $15 in a few months.

Bought it on Amazon with the Prime discount think I got it for $34.00. So far I'm enjoying it. I didn't play any of the prior ones.

Just picked it up as it's $10 off at best buy, plus a discount for gamer's club unlocked members.

I played a bit over an hour yesterday and love it. It's been long enough since the first one that I don't remember it well, or they changed enough in the remake that it felt like a new game to me. The upgrade system to the weapons I believe is completely new which adds some depth that the original didn't have.

We don't have many of these light hearted platformers anymore, so IMO even as somebody who already played the original it's a worthwhile purchase.

Just watched a YouTube gameplay video, it actually looks pretty cool. This is a remake of the first game?

basically an HD remaster of the first one with some extras added (from what i have read).

Yeah, but it's different enough that it's still worth playing again IMO. Especially if you liked them as much as I did, and haven't replayed it since that time.

The story is basically captain qwark reminiscing about his adventures so there's more dialog in the game as he basically narrates what's happening as you play it. Kind of like the narrator in Bastion but in a more cartoonish/funny way. So there's new dialog, new videos, new weapons and upgrades, and different instances where you play as clank when you never did in the original game. It's a pretty substantial upgrade, and well worth the $30 it currently sits at BB.

i LOVE ratchet and clank and have played the games through multiple play throughs. on the first PS3 one i actually played through it probably 6-7 times so i could get all of the gold nuts and upgrade all of the weapons with them and all of the bolts needed. i've played every r&c that has come out.

that said, i'm simply not going to support remasters at all so i will not be buying it. maybe if it's used from craigslist for like $15 or something i would, but i'd be sure that my money doesn't get into insomniac's hands.

as much as i like insomniac too i hope it flopped. it's just a cash grab to get people to go in tandem with the movie that came out, nothing more. no thanks.

I never played the earlier ones, 1 hour in and it looks and feels awesome! Loved Tools and Nexus so this is a no brainer for me. Though I agree purbeast0 on the remasters, just getting to be a bit much. I only buy it on sale/used.

Doesn't matter, it's a game from an old system that we have already played except it's prettied up a bit.

Even for a remake/remaster, it's clear there was a lot of time and effort involved in this game. It's not as though they simply got the original game engine working on PS4, upscaled the render output and called it a day. It is a remake at the end of the day, though a very good one.

That said, I really enjoyed the art direction in the originals, particularly Going Commando. Wish they would work properly in hardware mode of PCSX2 for upscaling.

Insomniac are calling it a reimagining of the original game. Most bits will be left as they were but some areas will be redone as well as new areas added into the mix.
