Ratchet and Clank: A Crack In Time

Just wondering if anybody else got this game.

I bought it on launch day and finished it on Friday. The game is just superb in every way. After I finished it I have gone back and gotten all of the collectibles as of last night and have now started challenge mode.

I wish there was a full game dedicated to Clank puzzles. Those were some of the most fun puzzles I've done in a game in a long time, especially the challenge ones opened up after you complete the game.

This game is going to be my first game where I get all trophies on PS3!

Also, dare I say it, but this game MAY just take the cake from Uncharted 2, as far as the fun I had playing single player. They are at least tied, and maybe R&C takes the edge by a tiny bit.

I picked it up last Friday with Borderlands, and I'm getting Dragon Age today :x

So far I love what I've played. I just haven't had a good time to sit and play it exclusively so I'm only on the 4th planet or so. I still need to platinum Brutal Legend as well...

I picked it up last week but haven't spent much time on it. Between Demon's Souls, Forza 3 and Borderlands it'll be on the back burner for a bit I suspect.

What little I did play I enjoyed it, though, I can't say I like the new weapons as much as the last.

Picked it up yesterday. Loving every bit of it. Only have about two hours of game play. I like exploring the moons and the platforming goodness they provide. Typically with ratchet games I'll explore as much as possible and totally scavenge a world instead of just blowing through it.

The way you talk up this series, I'm wondering if I should give it a shot. I played the demo of the last one for a few minutes and it didn't blow me away, but maybe I didn't give it a chance.

I'm playing through it now. And, yes, I love it. It still has the classic R&C gameplay, but they've added enough new stuff to make it feel fresh. I agree completely with your assessment of the Clank sections. In previous games I felt the Clank sections just sort felt tacked on and boring, but in this game they really stand on their own.

So many good games right now. I was working on Borderlands after finishing Uncharted 2 and then R&C completely sucked me in. And now Dragon Age is out with MW2 and AC2 right around the corner... I'm falling behind! I'm very thankful so many games bailed to 2010, I can't imagine how far I'd be behind right now otherwise.

Oh yea one thing that I really enjoyed about this game...

The whole "free roaming space" was done VERY well. In the past games, you would automatically fly to planets and stuff, and then it had this tacked on space shooter level, that personally, i thought was the lamest part of the previous game.

In this one, you manually fly between planets and the flying control, as well as combat is MUCH better done than the previous ones. However, if you want to simply warp to the planets, you can do that so you don't spend time flying around.

And another added touch - the moons! These are 'mini-levels' in the difference sectors, which have collectibles on them as the goals of the moons. Some have more than 1 collectible (a zoni and a gold bolt for instance).

They are just so well done though. I love how they are actually scaled so that when you press triangle to land on one, it doesn't load at all, you ship lands and you hop out and just go! They are very 'mario-galaxy' ish as well, which I just found to be a lot of fun and something new to this series.

And yes mugs, I am an R&C fanboy! I will say however, that I too am somewhat disappointed in the weapons in this game compared to the past. Quite a bit of repeats, and most of the new ones don't do much for me, but some of them are great.

Oh and the Ryno 5 ... when you get it, just listen to the special music it plays as you are using it haha.

As long as it still has disco bombs I'll be a happy camper.

Mugs - the game play is very much run around and just destroy stuff with a tremendous amount of different weapons with some platforming elements tossed in every now and then. There are many different "worlds" and each one with it's own style, color, scheme, enemies so they "feel" very different. See if you can pick up the last one for cheap as that was very good as well - R&C tools of destruction I think it was called. The sound effects are great and the music is top notch.

-edit-
I will admit it's one of my favorite series/games so I'm probably biased. I picked up a PS3 specifically for ratchet and clank.

spidey07, while you are on the topic of the sound effects and music, I also want to point out how great the voice acting in this game (and series) is.

The quality is up there with Uncharted IMO.

Good to hear. I picked it up last week during the Best Buy B2G1 sale. Haven't had a chance to play it yet though.

I went with Uncharted 2, Batman: AA, and Demon's Souls. Now I want to pick this up and DA: O. Too many games, not enough time 🙁

I haven't gotten too far but I really like the game. Sure its more of the same but there aren't many action/platformers out there for the ps3/360 (at least good ones anyways) so this hits the spot. Game looks nice too.

If anyone is interested in this game you can get it for $44.99 from Amazon using promo code RATCHET3. It's currently $49.99 and the promo will take $5 off. Code is supposedly good until 11/6.

Still loving the game. The moons and how you can just plop down on them are great. More platformy goodness in this one than the others.

Got it from GameFly yesterday and started it tonight (beat Batman last night). Seems like pretty typical Ratchet & Clank - which is a good thing. I'm enjoying it a lot. The camera did annoy me at first, which I don't remember from the first 2 PS3 games, but I got used to it.

I just picked up R&C: Tools of Destruction for $15, but I haven't gotten around to playing it yet, due to also picking up Demon's Souls, Uncharted, Infamous, and GoW Collection...

Damn, I bought too many games.

I have 3 games I haven't even cracked open. This game is too much fun. Going to replay tools of destruction before I even touch anything else.

Yeah. Cod and halo are sitting still unopened. Love me some ratchet.

Have you played the other ones? It's really a great series. I haven't played all of them jsut the first two but they are awesome.

Now I'm interested.

You could probably pick up "Tools of destruction" for cheap. The replay factor of that and this latest one is pretty high. For me, an admitted big fan, finishing the game is kinda sad so the replay in challenge mode is all that more fun.
