Raspberries are just a poor-man's strawberry

Strawberries vs Raspberries. The classic war of truth, youth and eternal stuff

  • My name is Malcolm, I have a big nose and only three teeth. I favour raspberries.

  • My name is Bert and I smell of wee. I make a pint of bitter last an entire day. Raspberries ftw

  • Strawberries are for people who value life and living. I am a well-balanced Anadtech peruser.

  • I am work on the Anadtech staff and we eat strawberries every day. We trade them for PC parts.

Yo peeps. We* should be getting some warmer weather within the next few months so I just want to get people prepared and notified about something important - raspberries are rubbish.

Uh no. Raspberries rock while strawberries are tart, overhyped products only worthy of eating with massive amounts of sugar or sweetners making them enjoyable.

Raspberries plucked right off the plant are awesome. Strawberries off the vine...not so much at all.

Bah, I can get me Korean strawberries right now!
In fact mangoes are in season and I can get 5 mangoes for $1.20 US. Mmmmm... I think I'll have on right now.

PSA: Not all strawberries are made equal. The humongous, bright red (on the outside), very firm buggers you get in 99.5% of grocery stores are terrible. There's a smaller, softer, very sweet strawberry out there that I first had in Korea, then later saw from time to time in a local farmer's market, that are absolutely divine. I wish I knew the variety's name.

Raspberries are superior. A mediocre raspberry is still pretty damned good. A mediocre strawberry is barely edible.

I understand why British folks may not like raspberries as they are a bit grainy and more likely to have bits getting stuck in all fifteen of their teeth...

this

also raspberry flavored anything > strawberry flavored anything

ice cream, jam,jelly,... whatever raspberries are better

however both are inferior to both Blue and Black

Raspberries and strawberries are both excellent.

Look, your hippy nonsense isn't wanted here. Would the Senate Parliament of Representatives be as functional and efficient as it is now if the Republicans and Democrats thought in such rational terms?

It's either one or the other.

I don't know about the rest of you, but raspberries are about twice the cost of strawberries where I am most of the time.

That said, raspberries are awesome compared to most strawberries. There's nothing like making some home made whipped cream, mashing some raspberries with a fork and then folding them into the whipped cream. You can't do the same with strawberries unless you puree them and that's usually fail.

Not sure how raspberries are the poor man's strawberries when raspberries are almost always more expensive per pound than strawberries (at least around here).

Oh, and they are both awesome, but I think strawberries are slightly better than raspberries, if for no other reason than you can do more with them more easily (chocolate covered, in your cereal, on pancakes/waffles, etc)
