Rarely has a Presidential candidate passed up two opportunites like Romney.

I heard a very good point made.
Romney was given not one, but two, opportunities for a "sister souljah" moment. And he passed twice.

If Romney had come out forcefully and denounced Todd Akins pregnancies don't occur from rape comments he would have won the whole election. What Romney never understood was the use of power. He was the Republican Nominee and the Leader of the Republican Party. He needed to assert that role and bury Akin. His namby pamby disagreement with what Akin said was a critical missed opportunity.

Amazingly a couple of months later Romney got a SECOND CHANCE when Richard Mourdock said pregnancy from rape was a gift from God. What Mitt clearly missed was that God was giving him a second chance and he blew it.

If memory serves he did come out and denounce the Akin comments, and also called for Akin to withdraw from his race and parted from his running mate and the official GOP platform by saying he supports allowing rape victims to get abortions.

As the previous poster stated, he did speak out.

Romney was given two chances to be president and he was denied both times. It's his policies and the republican policies that were denied.

I think its weak tea to suggest that the ONLY reason Romney lost his bid to be President was due to the idiotic remarks of Todd Akins and Richard Murdock. As techs say if Romney had taken a strong stand against Atkins and Murdock he would have won while Don Vito C says Romney did take a stand and lost anyway.

But I suggest that the incredible plastic man in Romney had already taken both sides of every issue so many times in the past, it did not matter what Romney said, because no one would any longer believe a word he said. As damned if he did and damned if he didn't, Romney owned the comments of Akins and Murdock. As the American people ended up being the winner when all three turds flushed themselves down the toilet. The reward of three total scoundrels who have earned their fate and so richly deserve each other.

But still, Romney lost when the job numbers came in, led by strong numbers in the auto industry bailout that Romney opposed.

Romney shot up in the polls after the first debate which was well after the Murdock comments. Romeny lost because his advisors were terrible and thought just public unhappiness with jobs would cost Obama his job - so they tried to coast and seem as bland as possible. They failed to understand the cult aspects of Obama voter as well as Peter Hitchens does...

"Anyone would think we had just elected a hip, skinny and youthful replacement for God, with a plan to modernise Heaven and Hell – or that at the very least John Lennon had come back from the dead.

The swooning frenzy over the choice of Barack Obama as President of the United States must be one of the most absurd waves of self-deception and swirling fantasy ever to sweep through an advanced civilisation. At least Mandela-worship – its nearest equivalent – is focused on a man who actually did something.

I really don’t see how the Obama devotees can ever in future mock the Moonies, the Scientologists or people who claim to have been abducted in flying saucers. This is a cult like the one which grew up around Princess Diana, bereft of reason and hostile to facts."

What a fucking idiot.

It couldn't be the policies, no way, everyone else who ran on those policies were voted back in office! /s

It might of not been the only reason but it could of not been worse for Romney. The left framed this war on women early and those dumb ass comments just fit right in. That and instead of discussing economic issue Romney had to waste precious time on those 2 bozos. The only gift from God was those comments to the democratic party.

It was like the Obama election team went to the future to get information. Everything they framed those idiots and Romney himself walked into. First the war on women then the 47% comment after framing Romney as a out of touch rich guy.

Lets not forget when Romney gained ground in the first debate it was about the economy and the federal deficit/debt and not social issue. That and Obama was completely disinterested.

Obama and Dems had no policies. It was just free gov cheese and Romney is an evil rich white guy. Obama was like a crack dealer with his "free" phones, food stamp commercials for 6 months before election, "free" health-care etc etc. A third of Americans can be bought off and the Dems are the ones who will empty the treasury and break the borders etc for votes. Its just a basic parasite/host/facilitator thing. Dem base has zero interest in well being of the polity - its all about the cheese (the reason most Dem Hispanics will never vote for GOP even if they get made citizens tomorrow)

The only person offering free stuff was Romney and he was only offering it to the de-assimilated whites who supported them who are largely obese old white men. Think about it. "Oh, hey, I'm going to let you keep medicare because you're an old fat man, but I'm going to make sure that the demographics that aren't old fat men don't have medicare. This is cool, ok?"

And what happened? Almost all of the fat old white men voted for Romney for the free government cheese.

Actually Mitt worships a God from the planet Kolob.....

Mr Atkin and Mr Mourdock represent the GOP's position on abortion. If Mr Romney had forcibily disagreed with them he would have alienated a big part of his base and could had lost with a larger margin.

And this is one of the more comprehensive proofs that conservatards are intellectually lacking: You can't even begin to understand the criteria that smart people use to judge equals.
