Hi I got my two cpu's in today but I can't get both to work...I'm running a supermicro P6DBU board and so far only one will work...I've even tried different jumper setting on the slocket adapter. No dice.
sygyzy:
there is no point to overclock
I mean why would I put myself into risk of frying a CPU for mere 100Mhz more...900 is fast enough for me to tell you the truth...
Check the Intel S-Spec info link on the first post of this thread. You will see the information you want on the numbers (keys) on the right side of the spec sheet.
Installed mine tonight on a BH6 v1.0 with latest "ss" bios. I set up the processor speed under the "user defined" bios mode (100x9). No problems at all. The "ss" version will actually let you multiply up to 12. This replaced a 300A @ 450. Doubled my processor speed - cool!
I agree. I have two and built a PC for a friend with one. We installed a 700 MHz Celeron in his last night after updating the bios to SS. Both my BH6 boards have SS bios also. One in the main box and one for a CPU/memory tester.
Have heard Abit may release yet another bios update for the BH6. Can't confirm it yet.
Still haven't ordered one of these yet. Been too busy. May be too late.
BTW, I would love to hear if anyone gets one to run at 1.2GHz, since that would involve getting the fsb to 133, and then the PCI bus won't be so far out of spec. I've pushed mine to 1170, but it won't load Windows 2000. At 1152, 3D Mark 2000 locked up. So I'm "stuck" running it at 1134
Benchmarq I have a CUSL2-C with Crucial PC133 CAS2 256MB and a Golden Orb. Do you think I will have any problems hitting the 1 GIG mark with this chip? Can you tell me your settings in the bios. I am confused witht he ASUS BIOS. There is the mulitplier which is obviously 9. Voltage = ? FSB:SDRAMCI Freq. Ratio - What the heck is this? FSB/SDRAM/PCI Freq (Mhz) - again confused. Well I have a slight idea. So for yours would you set 100:100:33 and then 126/126/xxx?
I couldn't resist. I originally planned to run this baby at the straight 900MHz. I went ahead and bumped up the fsb to 112MHz. Running at 1008MHz with no problems.
sygyzy - BH6 v1.0a ss bios. I have one 128m stick of mushkin infineon PC133 and 2 64m sticks of generic PC100. I was running CL 2-2-2 until I jumped up to 112MHz fsb. The generic ram couldn't handle it so I had to change to CL 3-3-3. I had no temperature increase whatsoever with the overclock.
