Rare color footage from 1927 London

Crazy, that looks like a more natural color than the technicolor film releases a decade later.

Thanks for sharing.

first thought was interesting to see all that pavement with hardly any markings on it.

second was the snippet about every corner of the empire...which no longer extends much further than the city itself.

I was going to say pretty much the same except replace "Most" with "All".

That makes it more interesting. When we see black and white pictures we see "the past." We know we are looking at real people, but they're different because to us they're not life-like. When it is in color there isn't that psychological barrier so it is easy to look at it as a place that really did exist, instead of just seeing it as another lifeless fact.

I'm surprised he wasn't beaten and arrested for filming all those police officers. Oh, right, he's in the UK and no the Land of the Free(TM).

In all seriousness that's a cool video.

Such a hugely portentous period of history. So odd to see the color in the footage bring out the normalcy of it all.

it has the 70s look to it. I'm amazed the camera was so stable, unless that's the post editing.

really makes the 20s seem more real and relevant to today.

honestly, London hasn't changed much!
