http://www.thinkcomputers.org/10-rare-and-unreleased-graphics-cards/

Just came across this article in my never ending quest to own 'em all.....

Very interesting. Some of the cards I knew about some I did not.

There is actually a 780 Ti Lightning on the 'bay right now but it is in Italy and wayyyy more than I would pay for a card I was just going to "have".

Anybody have any of the cards listed

GTX 480 512

2900 XTX

780 Ti Lightning

3850 Trinity

680 Gemini

Voodoo Spectre

9800 Maxx

voodoo 6000

ASUS ROG MARS III (Dual 680)

5950 ( dual 5850)

I do not. Finding these types of things must be like looking for Big foot. Vintage video cards are rare bird in themselves as people tend to just toss out old tech. It isn't like collecting classic cars.

I read the thread title as "Race card".

I thought this was going to be some kind of nonsense about Nvidia or AMD hating minorities. =(

I don't have any of the rare cards. I generally buy the best mainstream card for the best price (which ends up being the most common, I'm sure).

I remember hearing about that 3850 Trinity back in the day and thinking that was pretty sweet. Card is crazy looking

I remember reading about the 5950 but that's the only one of the list I've heard of (although I just assumed there was a 780Ti Lightning on the market, guess not).

The Voodoo5 6000 was legendary at one point back in the day. I think it even had an external power supply for itself.

Another rare one was Quantum3D's Mercury board that linked together four of their X-24 SLI cards, for a total of 8 Voodoo2 chips in SLI. I think those were in fact sold and used for military flight simulators.

Do you have a Rage Fury Maxx? I remember those being on Best Buy's shelves years ago.

I had a Radeon 2900 Pro. It was clocked at 600MHz. Mine ran at 900MHz overclocked no problem. 50% OC on the core, 512 bit of DDR3. I loved that card, got it cheap when the 2900XT was more or less a flop.
