I imagine that GM has only produced few hundred of these

Beauties

The presence of the manual in a G6 makes it much better looking for me for some reason. Also, the manual version of G6 is no longer offered...

It's nice and all and the 6 spd definitely makes it attractive to me. But it's FF, and has a powerful V6 and it's a domestic. TBH I would rather pay a bit more for a used G8 RWD outsourced design and all and better platform. But 13k is very hard to resist as you have so mentioned./

The G8 is at least double the price.
Also, IMO this G6 would be a great collectible car since only few of them were actually made/ordered.

It's a good price but I don't see any Pontiac made in the past 30 years being any kind of collectible save Fiero's maybe and the group they appeal to is pretty small.

Cars become collectible not just through scarcity, but also through desirability. The G6 simply isn't going to become a collectible because there aren't enough people who think that they are anything special. At best, I can see them being sort of like the Chrysler TC; a curiosity that is interesting but not very sought-after and that does not command a high price.

Unless you want to count the engine, which is built in Mexico. ;)

The G8 GT I test drove was alright, it had a good amount of power and decent styling. The interior was decent at best, still sub-par for a 2009 vehicle, a little too much plastic. Not to mention the price came out to 31.5 after incentives, and that's not including tax.

Outsourced Design (In way of saying, Holden designed it)

While that would be a fun car, esp if you could stiffen up the suspension & kill some of the inherent understeer, collectible it will not be.

I can pretty much guarantee you any G6 won't be a collectible car. Maybe 60+ years from now, but not in most of our lifetimes. I don't think there are any newer Pontiacs that are going to be collectibles. There was that one car though...

It's hard to compare a G6 to a G6 GTP, different engine, tranny, ps, wheels tires etc....

I have an 06 G6 GTP with an auto I like it but it suffers from the normal American car problems, it rattles and the front end makes odd noises....

Overall it's a great car with plenty of power and plenty of legroom(front and back).

Here is a pic of mine GTP.

What is it with people? Everyone complains domestics have "too much plastic" but every japanese car I've seen has plenty of plastic too  And in the case of my coworker's new civic, it didn't even fit the doorframes right.

Nice car - love the panormaic moonroof. They killed off that option as it was about $1800 and few were being ordered with it.

Cool color too!

on the note of collectable cars...I can't think of anything mass produced that will have any appeal 30-40 years later like, for example, an early 60's Impala. But then again, who knows. The criteria change with every generation.

It'll never go away. No matter how good domestics get, most people still will say they are sub-par.

It's not that it's too much plastic. It's the way it's used that makes it worse on domestics.

Not a bad car but I simply don't believe it will have any collector's value, and it wouldn't be my first, second, third or fourth choice in a 2006 compact/midsize sedan.

Listen, we all know all cars have plastic, thats not the problem. Its how automakers use that plastic, how they place it etc.

The interior WAS sub-par to my standards, the Cadillac CTS had an interior which was OK on the other hand, unfortunately from a driving perspective, I hated it and preferred the driving characteristics of the G8.

It's also the kind of plastics they use, some suck and some are nice.

Yeah, the fake leather pattern they mold into soft plastic is way classier than fake leather pattern molded in hard plastic.

Please, go see a G8, and do this one thing, open the glove compartment door. I swear the door was made out of 1/5 inch plastic that had the cheapest feel to it. Like I said, overall, it was decent at best. It's livable with.
