Rare AMD JPEG issue...

I keep seeing reports on the issue but they're about as informative as a Win95 BSOD. Does anyone have any clue what glitches could concievably cause this? (bad CPU instruction?) Please no "AMD sucks" or "something broke" type answers.

This Inq story is what I am referring to (it's on a few news sites), and what I'm asking is what causes it to only affect jpeg and mpeg data.

Interesting. It almost sounds like someone took a shortcut with some code that doesn't always work, but works enough that not many people notice.

For the record: I have never experienced this problem with any of my AMD chips nor any AMD CPUs that I have worked with (and I've had a bunch)

There is no AMD jpeg problem! There is no technical basis! This is a myth despite what people say.
