I'm putting together a very demanding WinRar file. Where would be a good forum to get this help. I do love AnandTech but sometimes no one has all the answers.

Wow, I've never heard of anyone call a compressed archive demanding. What's so demanding about this RAR file?

Especially when you have to install proprietary libraries. I despise rar.

And I'm still with out a clue. I basically have a ?.rar with 6 files in it. I have a directory with about 30 files. I want to copy to the ?.rar only files that exist in the file. And only if the matching, file that's in the directory has a modified date newer than the ?.rar file.
In other words the source files only get's copied to the destination of the modified date is newer.

Don't know about rar cause I don't use it, but you should be able to do that with 7zip. Here's the various command line switches you can use...
