.rar password problem is drivign me crazy!!

i created a .rar file back in the day with a complete backup I did and I decided to password protect it and encrypt its contents. Now 3 years later I don't remember what is inside and want to get to it and it is driving me crazy! Anyone know how i can open it !? At least see what is inside?!

There are easy password cracking apps for .rar files out there. I had one at some point, but I don't know what I did with it. Hrm.

yeah, get a cracker. it will take ages though... but it'd be worth it. just leave it overnight. over a week. 😉

Yeah there are brute force programs that can crack the password. Either run it for weeks on a slower computer, or run it for weeks on your desktop (less weeks 😛) Hopefully it's a fast desktop. GL!

Hopefully your password is a word and not a combination of symbols/numbers/letters

HAHA thanks all! i ended up gettign one and it was going to take 200+ hours to go through and i dun think it would have found it! luckily as it started scanning i remembered the pass hahaha!
