Whenever I'm downloading a rar file, it seems that I get ones with lots of errors (CRC, bad block, etc). I've tried repairing the bad files to no avail. A friend game me a big rar file that unpacked fine on his computer - however it has had issues on mine. Anyone have any ideas?

Thanks

maybe an error in moving the file? you dl it from him off the net? prolly lost a few packets

with big rars, i usually have a seperate file with the md5 checksum. that's always a good idea.

yeah....as its unraring, its geating read into memory. if you have a bad stick of mem, this will corrupt the archive. if it works on you buddies pc, but not yours, that would be my first place of attck. after that id check my hdd.

are you overclocking? if so, return to stock speeds and try again.
pull out the memory one stick at a time or try another stick.
