raptor X?

I was looking for a raptor new on ebay but it seems like they are mostly the X model now. I thought I heard that the window made it vibrate more and slowed it down a little. Is that true? Thanks.

I don't think that is true, but I have heard that the estimated mean time between failure is slightly higher compared to the normal drive because of the reduced EMI shielding. Don't go with X if you can avoid it, but its not a big deal. I have one.

you mean slightly LOWER then... higher means it takes longer to fail...

the MTBF is typically 1.5 million hours on a hard drive... that is 171 YEARS of continues operation... this is obviously bullshit.

There's no noticeable difference in performance, there may be a big difference in acoustics though depending on firmware, drive mechanics and mfg. date. My 1st Raptor X OEM from Newegg was extremely loud, almost like a garbage disposal. It was unbearably loud. I then got a 2nd one retail from Best Buy for a great price and was shocked to notice it was *MUCH* quieter than the 1st one. Mfg. date had a difference of 1 year even though the drives were purchased only a few months apart. So I send in the 1st one for RMA, they replace it with the non-windowed regular version, which is even quieter than my remaining Raptor X. There's no difference in performance, a small difference in acoustics (probably bc of mfg date only), same heat and everything else.

If I got a raptor as my boot drive, is it fast enough to also want to put my swap file on there or is having it on the same drive still a bad idea? Thanks.
