I'm more disturbed by some dick-bag trying to censor it than I am by the game.

Exactly.

WTF do governments from one country try to ban stuff thats from another country? Sure ban it in your own country but let others have it if they want it. If they aren't killing people they should STFU. I hope the Japanese government tells this guy to f0ck off!

Koing

Do a search on tube8 or xvideos for "japan" and see what turns up. Seriously, has any video from Japan not looked like a rape video?

What's weird is they have public gang rape bukkaki porn but they censor the genitals. Seriously the genitals are the offensive part of that?

I watched a web documentary the other day about Japanese sex doll brothels. Sex doll brothels in Japan.

Let that sink in for a minute.

This is why girls from hardcore religious families (that resisted most of the brainwashing) are great in bed.
Maybe I should join a church and bang some religious chicks. I'm going to be really pissed off if I waste a bunch of time and money on this and you turn out to be wrong.

Game might be in poor taste but the 'video games turn innocent children into rapacious monsters' argument can (and should) never work.

No idea how accurate this site is but it came up with a simple Google search.

Some of the highlights from Rapes (per capita) (most recent) by country:

#1.South Africa: 1.19538 per 1,000 people
#9.United States: 0.301318 per 1,000 people
#17.Mexico: 0.122981 per 1,000 people
#54.Japan: 0.017737 per 1,000 people
#56.India: 0.0143187 per 1,000 people

For all the weird smut they produce, the Japanese aren't that much worse than a country like India, a country where a mainstream big-budget movie still makes news and raises eyebrows when it includes a kissing scene (nevermind that the movie itself is a romance saga with half-a-dozen love duets).

Japanese culture is completely fvcked. US has sex issues but they are just over the line there. If they're not killing themselves in train stations because they missed a quarterly earnings by a penny they're buying kids' used underwear or watching rape porn. It's the ultimate example of doing crazy sh*t because you are repressed. Their porn is so damn perverted it can't even be done with real people so they create anime porn.

Western culture sucks, too. I'm just saying 🙂

To me its a good point. I can play a game where I can slit someone's throat with fishing line (Manhunt), I can cut their legs off, torture them, and all sorts of other things. I can buy and sell drugs in GTA. And yet the moment rape comes up all the whiny people come up and say "THATS DIFFERENT! THAT'S JUST WRONG!"

If you don't like that material then don't buy the game. You can't make the point that it gives people the idea that it makes rape ok without also saying that other games like GTA and Manhunt make drugs and ruthless murder ok.

I think sexual crimes invoke a higher sensitivity to the damage done.

Murder and rape are different in a few ways. Murder doesn't by it's nature discriminate, whereas rape usually targets women. Rape, also, is calculated to inflict a specific brand of suffering, namely the sense of sexual violation. I don't think the same can be said of murder.

I don't know. It's hard to nail down. I don't like to ignore impulses. The fact that humanity impulsively recoils so quickly from sexual violence, while just ignoring normal violence no matter how graphic, suggests a reason for it. I'm just trying to find it.

It might also stem from manliness. The impulse to protect women would include insensitivity to general violence in favor of a type of violence which almost exclusively victimizes women (rape). Although I think the outcry would be no less noticeable if the game was about a man raping other men.

This for sure. Video games aren't real, censoring them is a knee jerk to the all consuming think of the children/women attitude, that while well intentioned is so out of hand now it's insane.

Banning things because the government thinks it will encourage crime seems kinda like pre-crime or the thought police to me. Maybe I'm just paranoid. But if someone wants to indulge some kind of sick fantasy in a video game go at it. Once they start raping people in real life things change.

Man, that's just messed up. Has Amazon removed this game from their website? Please someone answer quickly because I have to go back to my GTA IV game and kill innocent civilians for in-game money.

Decent explanation.

It's a psychologically obvious fact (and proven no less) that people are influenced by what they are exposed to including violence and do become desensitized to it. I think most of us feel that if we play a game that kills people it's so far removed from any possibility that it becomes in a way safe, whereas rape is quite a common act conducted all the time so perhaps there's more risk to practicing it.

There is another thing. Humans naturally tend toward violence, we do love it in movies and it's integral to our entertainment, but we don't naturally tend toward sexual violence. In the end you can come up with many facts or logic but the reality is that people are more shocked by somebody practicing rape than murder. It's just that simple. Few of us could watch a woman being raped in a game and laugh but run a pedestrian over in grand theft auto it simply is funny.

We know Japan is a relatively good place in many ways. They just have really messed up porn and are creepy in every conceivable way.
*buys worn and unwashed panties on ebay*

Also I don't believe for a second that India has a low rape rate. The culture over there isn't exactly nice to women. Wherever beating ones wife goes unreported or unpunished, it seems reasonable to expect rape to go unreported and unpunished as well. We'll also hear lots of "lol it's not rape since she's my wife and I can do what I want with her"

I find those south Africa rape stats unbelievable, too. I have heard that place is an absolute hell hole for rape. I am guessing its rates are much higher.

Your logic there is flawed though because neither act discriminate. Women are more likely to be raped than men. But black men are more likely to be murdered in the United States than white women. So in that same sense murder is discriminating. Just because an act is less likely to happen doesn't make it discriminatory.

Also, take manhunt again for instance. In manhunt you kill other men. No women, just lots of other men in tortuous, suffering ways. In the Japanese rape game you rape women in tortuous suffering way. No men, just women.

Now again, what's the difference other than the gender?

Rapelay is hilarious! I wouldnt consider it sick...people play games all the time with prostitutes (GTA) to freaking blowing peoples heads off (any other game including GTA) so whats wrong with a little virtual rape here and there? It could be worse, the models could be 5 years old!!! LOL!!! Ahhh...good times...
