rap

Popularity brings money and advertisers.

Start any underground cultural movement, let it rise to the mainstream, and watch it get commercialized and become pop-friendly.

I'm guessing after Tupac and Biggie got shot the rap industry slowly toned down the violence in their music. Since busting caps in peoples asses was not a popular subject anymore they started rapping about living the beemers, crystal, and jiggly asses.

Because members of NWA either died or had families. And Kanye West cares more about fashion than keeping it real.

The mass appeal and affect on population makes me sick. I'll ignore as much as possible and only pay mind to the old school and underground.
Most mainstream rap these days is far more pop than rap.

i miss real hip hop... this pop rap shit sucks ass 🙁

As always there's still a lot of real rap, East Coast Avengers, La Coka Nostra, Murs, Diabolic. Music on the radio/tv sucks regardless what kind it is. I won't say Rap's as good as it was in 83-95 but there's no shortage of good shit out there. The La Coka Nostra album is real nice if you haven't heard it check it out. Supergroup with Everlast, Danny Boy, Ill Bill & Slane.
