I'm starting to get in to rap now that I have a nice system in my car.

I'm in to more underground stuff. Looking for some recommendations.

I like Andre Nikatina, Atmosphere, Wu Tang, and stuff like that.

Bliss n Eso
P.O.S.
Brother Ali
Saul Williams
Sage Francis
Sandpeople
The Roots
Mos Def
Talib Kweli
Lupe Fiasco

The last three have had some mainstream success, but are still real as shit.

BTW, I love these threads because they always turn me on to some artist I haven't heard about yet.

Also Jeru the Damaja if you're into the gritty new york style. Mac Dre, B Legit and E-40 if you like the bay area style.

Dre, Snoop and Eminem? What is this, the 90's? Hip-hop is constantly evolving and the bulk of that innovation takes place in the underground. Nowadays, unless you enjoy hearing that same song about "shawty" in the club shaking her ass, sung by a hundred different clones who vary only marginally by name and height, your only option is to go to the underground. Mainstream Hip-hop, with a precious few exception is absolute shit.

I guess I'm old and maybe too white, but the kings of rap for me are guys like KRS-One, Rakim, BDK, and older guys like that.
