Rap music will be banned from radio within a week

Imus is a shock jock, he gets PAID to say things that piss people off and get him higher ratings. He shouldn't have been fired and he shouldn't have been suspended. I highly doubt Al Sharpton really cares about this issue other than to get more people to listen to him. Short of that like the OP said Al only cares about white people making comments like that. If Imus was black no one would care about this.

If it actually comes true... This stuff is so harmful to kids... and some adults too. I am glad Sharpton dcaused something good to happen 🙂
Go ahead and ban pop music because there are too many sexual references in them today, while your at it you might aswell ban rock music because those damn kids won't turn it down, ohh and ban metal music to because I can't understand what they are saying and they talk about the devil.
As much as I hate rap music I don't think it should be pulled from air, that's like pulling a certain brand of a car off the road because it looks ugly. Even if it does it all depends on the consumer who are wanting to buy it. I don't give a ****** who Sharpton think he is, hes a dumbass in my book and always will be.

Yeah.. let's see if he tries to even ban rap music. His people will turn against him, and he will back out.
It's funny seeing Sharpton steaming ahead after a little exposure, as if he's got his "mandate" now. His and Jacksons public profile goes to show you just how powerful a little click of TV producers and such are, because I have never met a person that has any level of respect for these jackasses.
When we see a lot of people talking about how other people who are on some social mission are on it for fame or money or both and don't care about any thing else, we see people who themselves have no core morality and themselves are motivated only by personal greed. How we see others tells us who we are. The thief fear his wallet will be stolen. The liar thinks everybody lies. The morally bankrupt think everybody has a selfish motive.

What I really, really, really want to see is one of the major record studios say they are cancelling the record deals with all of their gangsta rappers, with the official reason given that it is clear that the black community will not tolerate commercialization of the degradation of blacks. And I want them to invite Sharpton and Jackson to the announcement "ceremony."
Not all rap music is bad. There is conscious rap (think Fugees, GangStarr, Public Enemy). There is also Gospel rap.
Take Wil Smith or LL Cool J. That is a different style from say Lil John or when Ice T first came out.
My point is different artists have different styles. Unfortunately most people are only familiar with the more gangster rap because it seems to get the most play. Why? I think many people listen to it for the shock value.
In my younger years I used to listen to the more hardcore stuff but as I age my tastes have changed. I don't really listen to rap music, unless it filters into the mainsteam and gets a lot of airplay. But I like more clean edited songs, and stay away from the more profane music. I won't listen to anything that contains the n word. I think it's in poor taste for ANYONE to use it - no matter what race you are.
I'd hate to see rap music banned as a whole. I do think Al or Jesse should come down hard on rap music that denigrates women or uses certain phrases that contribute to certain negative stereotypes.

No, he is going after talk radio. He has had ample time and notice to act on RAP music and the videos.

That's not an excuse for anyone abusing the publicly owned airwaves with that kind of sh8. Your local crack dealer gets paid to sell his sh8 on the street, but it doesn't justify allowing it.
Actually, yes it is. If Howard Stern had said it would anyone care? Nope, he says worse on a weekly basis, this is politics, pure and simple.
And are you actually supporting your argument by comparing a radio show host with a drug dealer? Cause everyone knows the 2 are practically the same.
