What's the difference between XP Pro upgrade and XP Pro full?

Is there _any_ reason I should get XP Pro full instead of upgrade? >>


Verify that you can do a clean install with the upgrade (and I think you can but not sure 100%) and go for XP Pro upgrade.

Aren't there 2 versions of the upgrade? A cheaper one for 9x/ME and a more expensive one for WinNT/2k?

Sweet Merciful Crap...I'm running ME, and it's fine. I've got 2000 laying around here somewhere but everything works so well with ME that I have no desire to switch. What am I doing wrong?

I do have a bunch of crap installed that I hardly ever use, spyware up to wazoo, conflicts left and right.

Sometimes I'm able to go 3 hours without a single crash.

In contrast my wife's PC running XP Home hasn't been rebooted for months.

Amazing.

Crucify me all you want, but I take the time when I load ME onto my machines to choose the right options for me. Most just toss it on their system and cry, bitch and moan about the problems later.

Running WinME & ICS Problem-Free for the last year and a half on two computers.

care to listen to my suggestions?


1. Instead of backing everything on CDrs, get a program (partition magic comes to mind) that will partition the drive without destroying the data. Then save all your files to that drive and format the main one.
2. If you have win2k, use it. Forget XP (let alone actually paying for it), unless it has some obscure feature that you desperately need.
3. Burn the WinME CD in a sacred ritual and pray to the computer gods for forgiveness. Repent and they'll send you stability and speed.

No clue, but I recall hearing something like that. Maybe it was Windows 2000.

Marty, thanks for the great suggestions but I have absolutely no desire to keep ME although backing up stuff to CD-Rs is the major reason why I'm continually putting this off.

I may go your route since it requires less effort on my part.

theres only one version of winxp upgrade, and it can be used for fresh installs instead of just that upgrade crap
