I swear my iMac running OS 9.1 is more stable than Windows ME.

I really should get around to archiving my stuff to CD-Rs, reformat and install XP Pro but I'm so damn lazy :(

<--- Lazyness is a disease.

Running winME and not formatting brings laziness to a new level. I don't think anyone can ever top that one.

I didn't do a messy install, computer came with Windows ME originally.

Damn damn damn I gotta copy everything to CD-Rs, reformat and do a clean XP Pro install.

-or-

hijack my wife's PC which has XP Home already installed.

Yeah, WinME and all it's relatives (9x) are viruses, cancers if you will. Once they are installed they start taking over your system and causing it to run slower and slower and slower. I'm running XP Pro on my desktop and Win2000 on my laptop. I'd recommed XP Pro but they took away some options that were in Win2000 and generally made things harder to find. But whatever. XP is ok. I know two people who have win9x running stable (one is running ME and the other 98) but everyone else I know with Win9x reboots like it's going out of style.

Dual booting ME and XP here, and I loveeeee my XP. I have ME cause CS won't play right under XP. Weee, look at all the abbreviations I can put in one post.

Who was Microsoft even targeting with this OS? The home user who wants a stabl... oh wait...um The multimedia user who can't get enough of Media Player and Windows Movie Maker... right. The person looking for a minimalistic OS... nope. I just can't understand how this bloated OS got past Quality Control so buggy. Are there ANY pro's to ME?

ME has to be the worst Windows product ever produced.

I love XP... all the stability of Win2K, and all of the compatibility of Win98SE. My only gripe is that they moved stuff around and some of it is difficult to find.

Argh, I gotta go to CostCo buy a 20 pack of CD-RW's, then buy Win XP Pro upgrade from Amazon for $149.99 after rebate.

What's the difference between XP Pro upgrade and XP Pro full?

Is there _any_ reason I should get XP Pro full instead of upgrade?
