Could it be the Anti-piracy Agency trying to make us stop dealing with illegal warez...? :D

Makes you wonder, doesn't it? ;)

Or sort of like the scene in the bar, in Crocodile Dundee, where he thinks he might get some with that gal, only to find out.....

Now, who said we didn't...?

That is below the belt though!

That's one of the reasons why i don't use Morpheus... i'd rather find an ftp and share with a small circle of people than put up with that crap.

I also hate that...

I downloaded some 2mb file (I'm a 56 slodem user), and it turned out to be some sick snuff $hit!

That was the last time I downloaded anything that I was unfamiliar with....

my $0.02

That kind of thing does not happen on moderated filesharing networks.

The best example (and the one I use) is Direct Connect. Hotline is another example. I am sure there are others.

On Direct Connect, you can connect to one of hundreds of sharing hubs, each of which is a mini-network of hundreds of users. If you are sharing too little, or sharing known child porn files, or sharing other undesirable content, automated scripts automatically kickban you temporarily or sometimes permanently.

In addition to this, there are multiple moderators on each hub, who manually go around checking people's files. If there is mislabeling in a user's archive, other users can complain to the mod about it. The mod will speak with the user at fault, and may choose to kickban the user temporarily or permanently.

It is a great system and the quality of the metadata is astounding.

Doesnt most of the mislabeling stem from napster being told to get certain content off there servers? Users had to find alternate ways to share songs and by doing so they would mislabel a track in order to work around certian artists and titles being banned.

it's like ordering a big mac at the drive up only to find out 10 mins later when you get home that it's a chicken sandwich!

well, it sounds like you downloaded a lot of crap that wasn't what you expected. luckily that hasn't happened to me.

what i really hate are the tards that can't properly label a song. I have been trying for 30 mins to download Oysterhead's Pseudo Suicide. Unfortunately the people that have it I can't seem to hook up with. What is left are people who lable the song "ain't no cure for suicide" or "psedio suiside."

all ripping software should automatically record the song title, that way it's not left up to some stoned teenager who can't spell. lol

I've only had that happen to me once. I d/l alot so its not like it is a very big problem for most people. The most common error i see is incorrect labeling due to ignorance (ie wrong artist for a song)

i downloaded what i thought was a song but it turned out to be a recording of a dude saying that i attempted to download child porn and that my IP has been recorded and that I had 24 hours to call a number to confirm that i did delete the file i downloaded. Or they will contact my local police dept.

A friend of mine was downloading porn and he got the samething but it was a .jpg pic of the recording i got. he was so scared that he did something wrong and the cops were going to bust him.

anybody else seen this crap?
