This sums up most of the reasons I think. It's a shame our tax dollars are spent like this, but the truth is that I would rather my tax dollars go towards this stuff then have thousands of hungry kids on the streets in my country. Anyone who thinks that this problem will go away if all taxes suddenly stopped funding this stuff is sadly mistaken. At best, it will reduce it a little, but not by much.
It could also be carelessness, although that could also apply to people who could afford them, but may not have been planning on having them at the time. Forgetting to take BC pills, not using condoms, relying on the pull out method, etc.
Of all the kids born now, I wonder how many of them were deliberate decisions, and how many "just happened".
