Yup. Owned by MGM. In addition to Treasure Island and Mirage, they also have the Bellagio, New York-New York, Golden Nugget, Boardwalk, and Beau Rivage in Biloxi.

Wow......... when did Steve Wynn sell Mirage & Treasure Island?

Cheers,
Aquaman <<<<<<<< has not been to Vegas in a long time :(

Looks like he sold in 2001 -- I didn't know that either. He's planning a new resort, I guess. :D

Who in the heck pays for drinks in the casino?? The drinks are free if you are gambling, even nickel slots qualify.

P.S. You should have complained to the Hotel Manager, not the Bar Manager.

Very few provide free drinks when sitting at a bar or in the lounge.

You have to be donating in order to get the free drinks.
Missed the lounge part, but keno counts too. (biggest scam ever btw)

What does the Lions head and the number 4 have to do with offending Asians?

I was wondering the same thing... I can assume the lion has something to do with a far east religon or something, but the number 4???

The number four has something to do with death in their culture. So no rooms in the 40's or 400's. The bar at the top of the rio ( i forget the name right now) is on the 41st floor but is advertised as being on the 51st.
The pronounciation of "4" in chinese ("say") is the same pronunciation of death ("saay") in chinese (cantonese). It's a superstition thing. And as you know, so is anything to do with gambling. You get the correlation..

On a side note, my dad freaked when I picked #44 for my hockey jersey. ;)

yeah i know it's been said before in this thread, but I hate how so many people that are mistreated these days immediately try to play the race card...."oh if i was white i wouldn't have been treated like this...." It's really annoying. I was watching that reality show Airline the other day and this black lady wanted her and 25 of her relatives to be able to wait at the gate to pick up another relative who was arriving that day...after the airline person showed her the policy written out that only one person would be able to go to the gate (for security reasons since 9/11), the lady immediately said "Just another case of racial profiling" and began ranting about how if she were white there would be no problem...

The Beau is ritzy. I've only been there once, and there are places where you have to wear a suit to eat at. We stick to Boomtown and the President.

Now you're talking! I love Boomtown's Western themed buffet..man, it's huge and worth the usual hour long wait or so. I don't gamble but when we travel down there we like to eat there once during the trip. Too bad they repainted the Imperial Palace next door because at night the old color glowed magnificently at night. I loved looking at it but being on the back bay Boomtown is pretty cool too.

You are right. The house edge on Keno is a whopping 40%. Anyone who plays this game for any amount of time is going to get seriously raped.

I can't get used to it being there. There used to be shrimp processing plants there, with oyster shell roads when I was little. I'm talking about like 1990.

My dad pretty much only eats at the casinos. There are so many comps in the paper that it's cheaper to eat there.

We ran into some problems with the BreezeBar at TI (Treasure Island), mainly them overcharging us on drinks (doulble shots when single shots were ordered, charging 20% tips when cash tips were given). We first talked to the bar manager, and the SOB gave us shiets about how the Visa we're using looks suspicious (Because it said Simons Gift Visa card on it

) and I think because we were Asians. So we decided to take it all the way up to the freaking Casino Shift Manager, we called the CC company and got evidence of the overcharge, have the bastards talk with them, and somehow the charges were magically credited while they're talking to us. The entire time, there was not an apologetic motion or words offered. To make things worse, we are staying at their fcuking hotel for 9 days (room charges came out to around $3600. I will never fcuking stay at Treasure Island again, I don't think they cater to Asians.
wow..you musta have really liked TI at the beginning to drop an avg of $400/day there just on room charges. What's the breakdown of those costs? just curious.

I went there last march for the first time. The one thing that impressed me most about Vegas was the whole towns desire to make my stay there as pleasant as possible. No one was having a bad day, no one gave you attitude. It seemed almost spooky the way everyone from the maid to people at the convenience stores seemed to be trying to provide the best service.
If the experience you had, cr4zymofo, was truly indicative of Vegas as a whole, then Vegas IS not the same anymore.
it still is when i was there in dec 2003. but not to the extent of me feeling spooky.

if u want to see spooky, goto a gun show. EVERYONE is curtious and considerate there, including other customers. if they walk in front of you when are checking out some guns behind a case, they say excuse me. if they bump into you while walking down the crowded isles, they say sorry. I've been to 3 gun shows (virginia) and all have been like that. i guess noone wants to piss anyone off since almost everyone there had some sort of weapon on them. (knives and legally concealed guns.)

that just shows that an armed society is a polite society!

anyway, sorry to hear of your troubles at TI. What made you stay there in the 1st place mofo?
