*rant* UCLA Kids are Punks

What the hell is wrong with people over on that side of town?

A couple days ago I was walking down Broxton to get to my favorite noodle joint, and proceed to cross the street (dunno what it was, Kinross maybe?)
Anyway, the street is 4 lanes wide (2 each way) and I have a green WALK signal. So as I'm walking, this guy (Chinese kid, grey volvo wagon) starts making a left turn from Westwood onto Kinross, when he notices I'm right about to step into the lane he's headed for. So he waits for me to cross, right? NOO!! he decides to gun his engine and cut in front of me. With about an inch between me and the car. At 25MPH. I resist the temptation to smash his back window with my fist as he passes, instead I just wave at his car and flip him off.

So he STOPS IN THE MIDDLE OF THE STREET about 30 feet away. No, he doesn't lean out the window or yell at me or get out. Just stops and looks at me in his rear view mirror. If he had at least rolled down the window and called me names that would at least be in the realm of reason. But he just sat there, stopped, looking at me.I was like "WTF?" I have never gotten instigated nor even been in a fight, but I was plenty ready to hand this guy his ass on a platter for trying to kill me. Instead he sits there like an ass-log for 20 seconds and finally hauls ass down the street.

I wish I could find an explanation for this guy's major malfunction. Maybe he was taking his sick friend to the hospital. But then he wouldn't have had time to sit in the car and stare me down.

So if anyone knows a Chinese kid with an OLD grey beat up Volvo wagon, kick him in the nuts for me for being a jackwad. I'll paypal you your reward.

...so why am I making a general statement that UCLA kids are punks?

- Some of my friends are heads of a fraternity on campus. EVERY time they have a party, some idiots decide they deserve to get in even though they weren't invited. So my friends kick their asses.

- I've heard countless tales of people walking along, minding their own business, when some jerkoffs drive up and try to start something.

- This stuff does not happen NEARLY as often at my campus.

Explanation, someone, PLEASE?

I agree UCLA students aren't exactly the most polite or refined people, but I've never had a case where people randomly pick on someone trying to start something. But then again I stay away from frat parties (read: gay orgies).

LA drivers suck in general.
 
okay... all you USC dorks can stop bashing UCLA peeps cause we all know that's not gonna get us anywhere.

All you other UC people, you're just jealous that UCLA is better, that we don't sabotage each other's work, or that we have better sports teams.

Also, just because everyone in Westwood drives like a dork (yes, I admit it), does NOT equate all UCLA peeps to being punks. A lot of the people driving around Westwood are also high school students from West Beverly High (yes, 90210) along with some crazy adults (Yes, adults drive very poorly also).

While it is unfortunate that you had that experience, don't hold all UCLA kids to your bogus conlcusions. Especially, don't hold the UCLA peeps on this board to your bogus conclusion.

UCLA is da shiet... and about people in westwood, there are always people coming from "across town" to go to maloneys... don't judge us by a random person you see who happens to be in an area that's close to LA... but seriously, what are you going to bash about LA...? or athletics program sucks? ok, so we don't win anything, but look at all the other places that don't... are you holding us to a higher standard for some reason? what else is there.... um.... uh.... hold on, i'll get back to you

I go to UCLA, and if I find the punk ill kick him in the nuts. But please, not all of us are bad 🙂

I've had bad experiences with a total of like 15 UCLA students. In at least 10 seperate instances. I had 1 good experience, and that was from your viet associatin giving my high school Viet Club a tour of the campus.

College town? You're saying you a good college town eh? Well, UCD IS Davis. We're half the dang population. The town pretty much revolves around us. Our own police force and Fire department. We also have our own airport. Beat that!

Our sports teams are also good. We have a championship football team and a damn good basketball team a few years ago. A good cross-country team also.
 
i go to UCLA but dont consider myself a ucla kid...i go for grad school so its different...

i think its more with southern cali drivers in general they are horrible...i was waiting to take a right on red near my house (i live about 15-20 from UCLA) and the direction that had a green light goes from 1 lane to 2 lanes at the light...most people were going in the far lane, but they can go into either so i wait till there are no cars coming(cause if i turn and the next car decides to go into the right lane to go to the store right there its my fault)...i glance in my rearview mirror and see the guy behind me like screaming at me to go...then when it is clear i go and he starts driving like 10 miles an hour ina 40 mile an hour zone behind me...

i dont get the southern cali drivers at all...im from NY and basically learned real fast how to drive by drivin in NYC...they get a bad rap but at least they know how to drive...out here i have to avoid a major accident at least once a week because of some dumbass merging and not looking
 
inevitably a lot of UCLA kids are from LA originally, which explains their bad attitudes/punkishness....

but not all ucla people are bad. for example, take me. 🙂 i'm not from LA, and in general i don't like LA people, but i love all of the friends i've made at UCLA.
 
ok .. i'm gonna admit that westwood village isn't the typical college town. there are lots of rich yuppie bastards there too. But all of you other UC kids are just hatin' because we are better than you. I swear, you wanna put down our sports teams that are at least perennial national contenders or our beautiful campus, well go ahead, you know you'll just be lying .



and Los Angeles isnt a bad place outside of that area near USC. There are all sorts of people here maybe you just met a total ass. whatever man, i'm not even gonna argue this thread is just stupid.

If you would have kicked his A$$ really good (busting teeth against the curb and stuff) you would have been doing a community service. Next time think about it before he runs someone else over.
 
hehe, carbonyl... i was going to go to cal poly slo but sent in my sir for another school... heh. won't mention which, since it might cause some flare-up about "so and so university is the best" etc. 🙂

Uh... well if you want to bring smartest kids into the equation, I'm pretty sure all the smartest kids go to Cal-Tech...
 
Amnesiac, there are over 30,000 students or "kids" at UCLA. If one is a punk, does that mean all of the other 29,999 are exactly like him? There are always a few bad people in every population, but those few do not represent the entire population. I can tell you that there certainly punks at UCLA, and there are quite a few that I've met myself, but there are way more nice people than punks.
