So they opened a new Trader Joe's in Manhattan this weekend. It was so hyped up that the line extended around the bloack just to go inside the store!

Yes, I lined up like all the other consumer whores and ended up paying $50 in groceries for approximately 10 items, like europena salad mix, papaya in a jar, frozen organic corn, frozen organic burritoes, ready to eat chicken tandoori in a microwavable bowl (organic ingredients), and organic tortilla chips made from white corn.

I feel like such a sucker...

Just stick with the Two Buck Chuck.

BTW, I hate most fish/seafood, but the crabcakes they sell there are awesome.

I can't wait for the store in Madison to open!

I made the same comment in the whole foods thread. When is it opening here? I thought it was supposed to be last year. Guess not!

WTF is the big deal about Trader Joe's? I have been there before and it doesn't seem like anything special.

I just felt that I got jipped for lining up and bought into the whole "organic" healthy theme and then paying exorbitant prices for it.

Hahah...I was thinking exactly that!

I have heard of these Trader Joes but I have never been to one.

This thread is great. "I am angry because I paid for the stuff they wanted to sell me!"
Didn't you try to read prices and see if you were getting ripped off?

Good marketing on their part. Don't blame the store because you're a sucker.

I hate lines. There are maybe 3 things I will wait in line for. Food shopping isnt one of them.

Other than trader joes is great. They have some really unique items and the majority of it is actually healthy....

But I wouldn't have been suckered if I sued them for unethical marketing tactics!

Best thing about Trader Joes are their frozen foods. The stuff is delicious and is healthier than what you get at the supermarket. That and $2 Charles Shaw wine.

What is your point?

"Gee, I went into a store and bought things which I think are sold at "exorbitant" prices.

This is somehow not my own dam fault, so I should sue."

Why did you shop there; because you saw a line, and had to get in it?

You live in Manhattan? Next time try the three card monte.

The Maroon store called, they're all out of you.

Easy there, you ask a silly question, what do you normally expect?

Was just hoping to see the point of view of somebody who thinks Trader Joe's is so special and who could tell me why they think it's so great.

Nevermind me today. . .I'm just in a bad mood. I locked myself out of my house this morning after my wife had already left for work and the neighbors who have our extra key weren't home either. I had my lunch in my hand and the coat on my back and that's about it. I had no keys and therefore couldn't get in my car, no wallet or money, no ID, no access badge for my work, no cell phone. . .nothing. Had to go beg to use the phone at the neighborhood community center and the only guy who's phone number I could remember wasn't in yet. Had to bum a dollar for bus fare from a nice lady who was the one who let me in the community center to use the phone. Waited a half our in the cold for the bus, and the bus came and the fare was $1.25. Had to explain to the bus driver and beg him to let me ride. Then had to walk half a mile to work in the cold once I got off the bus and convince the security guard I was an employee so he would let me in. . .Now I have to wait until 7pm until my wife who is 8.5 months pregnant (why she still wants to go to work is beyone me) and shouldn't be working at this stage anyway can come pick me up to bring me home. Now I'm stuck in my office all day long and I can't leave the building because I don't have my access badge to get back in again. I can't even go to the bathroom without needing that badge or having to bother somebody else to come let me back in the secure area. It sucks. I am not in a good mood.
