I just don't understand the argument women have for men to put the toilet seat down.

"It is meant to be down, not up."

... No, it is meant to be down OR up - otherwise there wouldn't be a hinge on the seat.
Secondly, if you're going to argue that the seat should always be down 'because it is meant to be', then you should put the lid down too.

Bah.

You can put the seat in any position you like as long as your only interest in life is a relationship with your hand. Otherwise do as you are told.

Or you can buy a house with enough bathrooms so every person has their own toilet, solved our problems, and we still have a bathroom leftover.

That being said, I always puth both seats down on the toilets at our house. I have a terrible habit of dropping full rolls of TP in the toilet when restocking the cabinet above the toilet. I swear in my life I have dropped about 100 rolls in the toilet, I fianlly learned to keep the lids down.

Its supposed to be kept all down.

Keeping it all down has saved me many times from having to fish stuff like my watch and glasses from the bowl.

Ya got trouble my friend, yes, with a capital T and it stands for Toliet. Next issue is the toliet paper coming from underneath . . . finally progressing to the placement of the ring through your nose. My advise is to smack her a good one and tell her "that's for nothing".

I think the point is that it is inconvenient for women to lower the seat. But it is not important to women how inconvenient it is for men to have to raise and then lower the seat. So who is the most inconsiderate in this situation?

As a rule I lower both the seat and seat cover when I am done.

I usually shut both. If I forget to shut them, then I might leave the seat up.
At my gf's dorm room, it's like one of those stupid public toilets in a normal bathroom, so it has no lid to put down, so I forgot adn left the seat up and she yells at me "You didn't put the seat down! I almost sat right in the water!"

WTF! Don't you LOOK before you LEAP? Do girls really just back in and sit down????

Whether it should be left up or down should be decided statistically :D. So if you live with three female roomies, you should most definitely leave it down.

In public men's rooms it should be left up, because it's easier to slam it down with your foot than touch and lift up the seat of unknown filthiness. By the way, have you guys noticed some toilets in stalls have the seat glued down so it won't lift up? Happened to me a few times. Not that it's problem because I have some serious aim :)

I really don't understand where woman come from on this issue...
they want us to put it down so they dont have to, so they dont sit in the water...
well, we want to put it up, so we dont piss on it (which is mostly for THEIR benefit)
so... either way we are doing them a favor!

so if they want to be able to go in and piss without changing anything, I will too.. and they will live with the piss on the seat :p

I have just entered the Twilight Zone. I have fallen through a black hole in the space time continuum. I have been transported to a place called "'The Deep South"' where men piss on the toilet seat.

What a proud lot you must all be. Women are to be cherished. If they want you to place the toilet seat in a certain way, then do it. How much effort does it take?

Better you should ask yourselves if you should wipe your butts after a dump. Should I, or shouldn't I?

Grow up.

How about installing new seats with three possible positions?

Up, down and middle

down:

-----
-------

middle:
......./
....../
...../
------------

up:

|
|
|
|
----------------

Leave it middle position. So boys and girls, y'all happier now?

I second that. Or one that senses who is coming, and adjusts accordingly.

<<any "MAN" here who insists that the seat be put down is "P"wipped>>

Any MAN who has issues with not putting a toilet seat down has turned a non-issue into a major battleground precisely because by doing so he creates the illusion to himself only, that his hidden feelings of being pussy wipped aren't substanciated in reality. The actual reality is that the need to do battle is the symptom of defeat. A real man puts the seat down instinctively and without thought out of a boundless capacity to care.

moony, once again, you have proven yourself to be the purveyor of verbose, palaverous, twisted verbiage, spreading your utter bullsh!t like marmalade on milque toast..you have obviously been raised by an old school marm and her 3 Aunts...

<< The actual reality is that the need to do battle is the symptom of defeat >>

wrong bucaroo...the actual reality here is the battle of one will over the other...one tries to "control" while the other"battles"out of rebellion and out of the need for"free will"...

<< not putting a toilet seat down has turned a non-issue into a major battleground >>

if it's such a "non-issue" then why did it turn into a major battleground....and I can assure you that the situation of this sort will not be intensified by the male of the species...

<< by doing so he creates the illusion to himself only, that his hidden feelings of being pussy wipped aren't substanciated in reality >>

this palpable "misnomer" has been "sown" into this"web" to confound the reader into the conviction that by scrimmaging over the assurtion of one's free will (and, in most cases, this is just one of many "little postures" meant to "control" a bigger picture) you will not compromise your free will, and to do so, you will only delude yourself into believing that this kind of posturing is merely whimsical fairy tales made up by school marms and spinster aunts

edit: btw mooney, the word is spelled substantiated

Handle the positioning of the lid your own self. If its down, I put it up to piss. If its up, a chick needs to put it down to piss.

When I've got to sh!t I don't bitch at myself for leaving the lid up last time I pissed...

I think its only fair to have it down. My reason being 50%-75% of the time there will be people sitting on it rather than standing up to pee (assuming equal number of males (and I do mean males :p) vs females).
