Rant regarding cable internet

or actually lack off. Why would cable internet not be available to me living in the city limits of St Louis. Doesn't it seem like that would be a fairly prime spot to offer it? (large population in small area.......) Over a year and counting now that I have been impatiently waiting..... God this is annoying!

Edit: Additional little tidbit, Charter Communication is headquartered in St Louis! sigh

i have a friend in a suburb of Minneapolis, they don't have it because the city voted and said it was too expensive to run the new lines underground. So they have no lines installed, therefore can't have cable.

Do they have to run new lines? I thought there was just some equipment that they needed to set up to support internet over the cable?

they need to in this town. the current cable is too old.

probably what is happening here then, kind of sucks. Phone lines are crappy (substation is 1 block away, but still can't get decent connect rates), and no cable internet. No way I am paying Southwestern Bell $50 a month for dsl either. :-/
