you are not back home... get a life.

I had this dude today who wanted a 42" panasonic openbox plasma for 1600 (this is lower than what i get as an employee). Its not ebay where you name your own price.

The retail tv was selling for $2249.99, the openbox is selling for $1899.99 a whopping $350 off it and there is NOTHING wrong with it, we tested it, no burn in marks nothing. Turns out the people who bought it, didnt think they were able to afford it. They took it home and had second thoughts, so basically tehy brought it back and we put it as an open box.

God .. seriously damn boys!

Then the other i had an indian dude who was trying to bargain, and when we gave him a 'negotiated' price, he started to want more, even free delivery.. god damn greedy bums and tightwads. On top the guy was to buy the service plan for his tv, and then when i am ringing him up he goes he doesnt want it. So he ended up with a plain vanilla plasma tv with no other things.. things that really he DOES need. I am not trying to upsell, i am talking about a proper surge protection (not a power strip), especially if you buy a 3.5K tv you want to protect it.. No HD cables nothing.. how is he going to watch comcast HD if he doesnt even have an HDMI cable (comcast i know for sure doesnt provide it). You can use teh antanne cable but there is a video quality difference with HDMI that i have noticed at a few ppl's places.

I cant wait for this guy who only wants to use to impress ppl to get burned when teh first spike comes thru the line.. i am sorry what you think btu i have been monitoring the spikes caused by my apartments AC coming on and off, i can tell you its not fun. I would have spent atleast 100 for a decent UPS or something.

In other countries you bargain. So what, your point? It doesn't make them greedy bums or tightwads.

Besides, it sounds like he got a good deal, so who's laughing now?

Those customers got ripped off. They should've haggled and cut prices even more.

maybe he is smart enough to buy his HDMI cables somewhere else other than best buy? Monster SUCKS for the price. Where you going to sell him a monster power conditioner?

YOU DON'T GET PAID COMMISION. WHY DO YOU CARE????

I actually agree with the op.

After seeing my mother try and work her way into a "Buy two pounds of bananas, get one free" deal that didn't exist, I'd have to agree.

hell i dont mind him buying his HDMI cables.. elsewhere.. i am not on commission so i dont care.. but what bugs me is that the guy tries to extract more and more money off the tube after we gave him some off the tv (i was being generous - and so was the manager)
what was going to be a package deal ended up being plain vanilla..
I dont believe monster is the best, there are other stuff better.. but i wasnt going to sell him the monster power center for 200 or the 499 one, i think those are over rated for what the do, but a plain jane UPS would have done better. Seriously you dont want to be plugging your 3K+ tv into teh wall.

Lets just say i am glad i didnt get into trouble for giving that much off (usualy it wont even go that far as much as off) for that tv. I guess it was a slow day. Anyway it wasnt my call the manager approved it and i didnt say anything, i am a pawn.

Yeah that $399 laptop is sweet, it was selling like hotcakes today. Mind you our discount is 0 on it, or i would be buying one. I might tell my ex today that its on sale, so she can get one.. its the cheapest i have seen for a laptop, and she could use a cheap costing laptop.

This thread is doomed to flamage already, but take solace in the fact that 99.9% of the respondents do not share your experience in this field (ie. retail).

More accurately though, cheapness transcends race, age, gender, etc...

Because on big ticket items, you can.

Normally you don't mess with the peons on the sales floor, you try to get a manager of some sorts.
