Really Toyota? I need to remove a cowl, an air vent, unplug and move the window washer reservoir out of the way, and work with a mirror to get to the head lamp. No wonder the dealer wants $300.

Maybe they're all like this now that we have HID's that last forever...*cough 44K mi. cough*

Heh yeah, used to see a lot of Prii with headlights out in NH.
 
I have to remove the front bumper and remove the whole headlight (total PITA cause of the wiring harness) to change the bulbs on my G35..

Bumper has to come off on my CTS-V too..hoping they don't go out anytime soon. 😛
 
True HIDs are vapor arc lamps like those used in digital projectors. They don't last forever; in a projector they are only good for 2000-3000 hours. Under normal operation the electrodes shrink until the arc can no longer ignite. Sometimes they can die in a spectacular explosion when one of the drooping electrodes contacts the housing.

Both my cars = pop the hood, pull up on a clip or two, remove connector, remove headlight. :awe:

I'm assuming this one was some kind of heat issue because it would come on for 10 minutes then go out and stay out until you turned it off and back on.
 
Even replacing the fog lights on my car is a long ass process. I'm sure for headlights, it requires pulling the bumper off and then removing the headlamp unit. I just hope that the motor that makes them pivot when turning the wheel doesn't burn out.
 
My brother used to have a celica and he had to remove the wheel, fender liner, and a bunch of other crap to get to the headlight bulb. He had given me a hard time about the placement of my spark plugs in my Camaro, so while he was out there fighting to get that bulb out I said "hey watch this!" Popped the hood, reached down, and popped out the bulb 😛

He gave me the worst look ever lol 😀
 
That would piss me off. All that labour or $300 for a routine maintenance part?
