I get so tired of hearing people whine about not having enough time for the gym, whenever that topic comes up. Such a b.s. excuse.

There's periods where I work 70 hours/week, hang out with my friends all friday and saturday evening, run a full load of errands, and still manage to get to the gym 3 times/week. I hear people whine 'oooh but my family takes up time. They're more important blah blah blah I'm a lazy roll of dough'. Yeah, a lot of good you'll be doing your family when you're dead at 54 of a triple corony, fat-tits. Or people that make it sound like their life is just soooo full of wonderful things they can't possibly give up their wondrous adventures to take an hour 3 times per week. These are usually the same people who sit around 3 hours/night watching bullshit like desperate housewives, everyboyd loves raymond, and other tripe for retards to grow fat on. Heaven knows I wouldn't imply that you should give up on your adventure of trying to get your ass print permanently wedged into your seat cushion to actually go get some exercise!

end rant.

You sound like a snot nosed little punk who has no real responsibilities in life. You're probably a little cologne wearing A&F i love you with your fvckin' boxers hangin' out of your pants.
Some day when you grow up and can find a woman, or man, that can stand you and you're lucky enough to start a family, have a house and other responsibilities you'll understand what it is like for some people.
People who can barely remember what it's like to hang out w/ friends all Friday and Saturday evening. People who know they need to make time to excercise but are so whipped by their daily life that they trade off excercise for desperately needed sleep or simply squeeze in some "me" time to un-frazzle.
The last thing someone like that needs is to see some idiot like you flappin' his jaws about how lazy they are. Shut your pie hole and for God's sake... pull up your pants!

Quit making lame excuses.

BTW, I'm 38 years old, own my own business and a home. I find time to exercise and so can you.

BTW, exercise will "un-frazzle" far better than sitting your fat lazy ass in front of the boobtube.

Want to spend time with your family? Do it with exercise.

Moot point.

I already know this. I never buy bottled water unless forced to by circumstance.

This has nothing to do with buying a gym membership.

OP's message is good.....but poorly delivered.

insulting people is probably the worst way to get your message across. sure it's a good message and he's entitled to rant, but you're not going to insult people into being healthy.

I feel pretty certain that anybody who would pay to exercise, would also pay for bottled water, but of course there are probably exceptions.

I'm sure our great grandparents never would have envisioned what we've come to. People griping about the price of utilities, then dropping $100.00 for dinner. To actually pay for the privilege to exercise would seem about par I imagine.

I wasn't making excuses, I get plenty of excercise. I'm simply saying that how other people choose to live their lives is none of his buisness. He should keep his mouth shut.
My acrid comments were to see how he likes being dumped on, see if he likes having someone give him crap, someone who has no right to do so. Think before you speak kind of message.
"Me" time doesn't mean sitting in front of the TV to everyone. To a lot of people "me" time can be reading a book, working on a hobby, going for a walk etc. Good mental/intellectual health is just as important as physical health. Unfortunately a lot of very physically healthy people aren't always mentally/intellectually healthy 😉

ps: I don't even own a TV

Again, I am paying for the space and equipment. Not to exercise.

To outfit the gym that I would need to meet my goals would require at least 1000 square feet and 10s of thousands of dollars.

I can get that and more for a mere $30 a month.

And, again, I do not buy bottled water unless forced to because tap is not available. (Which is very rare)

the gyms were free back in our grandparent's time? what about all those old boxing movies you see when they train in teh gym? i assume those weren't free.

anyways, i suppose i could tie a basketball hoop to a tree, or swim in a lake, or lift heavy rocks i find by the side of the road.....but i'd rather just pay a gym membership 😛

A subjective taste test means nothing to how clean the water is. So. Cal's water isn't drinkable as it's loaded with electrolytes, such as chlorine, sodium, potassium, lead, etc. Almost all of socal's water is irrigated from either Norcal or the colorodo river.
I used to distill my own water before I bought a water purifier. Just distilling two liters of water will leave quite a bit of white powder. If you pour a cup of hot water here, it looks cloudy white.
Go ahead and drink that cloudy white water if you think it's perfectly fine. I'll stick with my water purifiers.

SoCal's water is SAFER than bottled. You read far too much fear mongering nonsense (most put out there by people who have a vested interest in selling bottled water).

Please, point to one study showing people who drink bottled water are healthier.

Whoops!

I live out in the boonies, and the nearest gym is a 25 minute drive away from me. You add THAT times 2 to your total workout time, and see if you still have enough time to go to the gym.

Oh... and my well water has enough dissolved minerals that you can see a green tint to it when you hold a clear glass up to the light. No way I'm drinking that stuff.

When I get up in the morning I jog/bike for 45 minutes or so, go back home, eat breakfast, take a shower, go to work (that was my basic routine, not working at the moment). Doesn't really take that long, at most it means 45 minutes less to be at a bar or browse CDs or walk your dog or whatever the hell else you have to do. Health is more important than an extra 75% of an hour doing some petty leisure activity.

About the water... if I lived in LA or NYC I'd probably be drinking from the tap, but in this town I don't give a damn how much cleaner Poland Spring water is, it doesn't taste like it came from a swimming pool so I'll be drinking that and using the tap water to wash dishes. Actually, just got a Brita water filter, pretty good.

...you brought up the bottled water!

Again, I am paying for the space and equipment. Not to exercise.

Again, paying to exercise is as lame as paying for bottled water.

Well put - layer single parent of two little kids on there as well. I'm barely keeping my head about water as it is between work, picking up/dropping off kids, cooking, cleaning, laundry, building & maintaing my home, spending some actual "quality time" with the kids, etc. My social life is already non-existant, most of my hobbies have been gathering dust for 3 years. I try to get some exercise around the house on occasion - but "going to the gym" is simply a luxury that I haven't had in quite awhile. On the rare night off I've got better things to do - like getting more then 6 hours of sleep for once.

I know - all excuses

edit - and fwiw, about the only TV I watch is while folding laundry or doing other chores.

Yep - over 5 years. Roughly 4 a day and almost exclusively at work while waiting for builds or analysis runs to finish. Or over lunch.

So what's your point Mr. Lifer?
