Rant: parking lot!

I care for my car and purposely place it far out and away from everyone to avoid dings. In fact at the place I park for work I make sure to grab the last spot next to a fence so that only one side of my car could ever potentially get hit by swinging car doors. I park to the far friggin side of my parking spot hugging the fence, leaving at least 2 - 3 feet between my car and the line seperating where another car should be. Then why in the hell is it that every single time I come out from work the car that parked next to me is about 1 or 2 feet from my car, and is in my lane?!?!!! F U stupid I can't park in my lane asshat!

That is all. Thank you. I feel better.

I tend to agree. One might as well wish for the sky to not be blue.

But WHY WHY WHY does it happen every single time. It drives me friggin insane and I have to look for like 3 minutes at various angles of my car to see if I got hit. I really shouldn't get so upset about it, but I freak every single time. I get all worked up every time I enter the parking lot just to go retrieve my car. AAGH

edit:// used to take the bus to work BECAUSE of this reason (and well the cost of parking in a downtown spot) but can't now because of my fun medical problem (IBS).

It happens because people use your car as a reference point for when to park. Thus, they will always park about the same distance from your car, regardless of where your car is actually in relation to the yellow lines.

If you're so frickin' concerned, invest in some road cones.

Funny thing you mentioned this. I put two cones on the yellow lines on Monday to test that out for myself! When I got back to my car after work the cones were missing and a car was parked in my lane. WTF!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You'll have to stop being so worried over your car. My car is 9 years old and I care for it a great deal every day... it still is in brand new condition except for minor dings. They are going to happen. It is inevitable... you can't protect it all the time. You're just driving yourself nuts worrying about it by checking it all the time. Do what you do with parking further, but if it happens, it happens.

LOL. Sorry man, but that's awesome. Are you sure some one in your office doesn't know you hate it when people park like that and isn't doing it on purpose?

I know, I'm pretty amused by it now. But not on Monday. Oh man I could have taken on Tyson and bit his other ear off.

That's not a very healthy attitude.

I could care less how close anyone parks to me as long as they don't ding me. If I was rich I would pay someone to watch my car all dayand when someone opens their door up and hits my car, they would leap from their hiding place, drag them from their car, kick their ass, then drop their keys in the nearest storm drain. All this would be captured on video of course and I'd sell copies to people like you.

I know you care about your car, but honestly it is just a means of transportation. Nothing else. So what if it gets some dings. All cars get dings if they are driven. Plus 99.9% of people who park right next to you won't even come close to touching your car. So you don't have to worry about it.

On the first week I owned my new car, someone parked backwards next to me (so their driver side door opens into my driver side door). I always hate that, and yep they opened their driver door right into my door. A bit of touchup paint is all it took. I didn't even bother to compain to the person who hit the door. It is just a car to get me from point A to point B.

The only time I feel like that is when they diagonal park across 2 spaces.

Exactly! Those are the guys *I* even want to ding and I really care for EVERYONE's car, not just my own. But it is THESE guys that you haters should be going after, not me for wanting to park a bit further on my side of the lane just to avoid these hassles!

Maybe the dork who parks next to you can't see the white line separating parking spaces? You should try to buy some white parking stripe paint and repaint the lines near your car.

park diagonally over two spots, depending on where i go (ie: mall) i'll go to the far end of the lot and part over a few spaces. Then again, this is ND so I can get away with it :p
