RANT: Parking FAIL

Here's what happened. I used poker terminology. Villain. LOL. I guess I should've put Hero for me.

Anyway, in an epic parking lot where there's never space, Villain finds a spot. We're not fighting. He gets it. We're waiting for the spot to clear. Villain clearly has it. Spot clears and Villian refuses to budge. Villain honks at me as if he wants me to go. Ok? I'm clearly at least 2-3 spots behind the clear spot meaning he has MORE than enough room to park.

Meanwhile a long column of cars has formed behind Villain. They get impatient. They start passing him as indicated by black arrow moving downward.

Villain honks at me again. Possibly honking at people passing, but he motions at me to go. Maybe I'm too intimidating or something. So I start going. More impatient drivers start going around Villain so I can't go. I'm now kinda blocking Villain. I back the hell up ASAP and let the passing car finish passing. I back up pretty far so I'm like now 4-5 spots away. I'm giving the Villain PLENTY of space to park as if he's a dumbass. As I'm backing up Villain keeps honking. WTF? Sorry dude, you wanted me to go and there was a stalemate, I'll clear the way so you can park provided you get the long line of angry cars behind you to let you do so.

Then what? He tries to park. He has more than enough room but he FAILS to park straight. He can't even get in. Not even a tough spot. He's half in half out.

Long line of angry cars continue to pass him. He starts backing out. Realy just needs like 5 feet to back up and repark and he'll be ok. So he backs out. Cars still pass because this is a wide aisle and then as a car is passing he honks. He honks like MAD. He's backing out and he's got 10 more feet left of space AT LEAST before he'll hit the car. He has more than enough space to adjust his fail parking. The car passing him throws up a WTF face, passes him and he continues backing. He pulls into his spot now and now I can finally pass as its a 2 lane aisle again.

I'm just sitting there shaking my head and waiting, and he honks as I pass. He holds his horn down. At this point I stop, roll down my window and yell something along the lines of "STFU NEWB, LEARN TO PARK AND RETAKE YOUR DRIVING TEST PLEASE."

So I had to walk back and snap a photo.

Edit: Asian driver. I'm Asian too but gosh I wanted to scream because this guy makes us all look bad. My friend in the passenger seat was just in shock. He was like "Wow WTF, worst driver EVER"

that is a large spot.

its pretty bad he couldn't park it.

i was so far back at that point because i wanted him to stop honking i couldn't even see if he was really unable to keep driving in or not. part of me thinks he got worried he might hit on one side, but i'm guessing he was just too noob.

there's no excuse for failing a spot that big, not to mention i don't think he parked it that bad the first time. then again i was so far back i couldn't really see if he totally screwed up. but apparently by backing up he acknowledged he fudged it... fail.

Indeed it is.

Most of the spots I try to get in that are side-to-side parking (cars door-to-door rather bumper to bumper) are so small that I can barely get out of my car once I get in. That guy has so much space.

Why didn't you just park? You're yelling at him telling him how to park yet he waved at you to park and you didn't cus you got scared of him.

He didn't wave to me to park. I got there way later than he did. He was already waiting for the spot to clear.

Maybe he did? And if he didn't want to park at all why didn't he drive on? I kinda forgot if he was signaling or not, but it was just assumed at with this always-packed lot that he was probably looking for a spot.

I almost never, ever use my horn unless it's just a friendly "beep, beep" to let someone know I'm there when I think they don't see me. Never, ever to tell someone to get out of my way. Honking your horn is just an invitation to fight 99% of the time.

It's Parking Wars. Parking is the closest thing to war that civilians have. All is fair in love and parking.

Pretty much this.

Someone has their blinker on for a spot? Fuck them. Get the spot anyway.

Haha I can't wait for the thread where you whine about getting your ass kicked for taking someone's spot.

I'm gay with anticipation.

This story is full of LIES.

You expect us to believe that two Asians came face to face in small, cramped quarters, and THIS did not happen?

Bullshit.

I'd have pulled into the parking spot he wanted. Even if I didn't want to park.

After he had enough space and enough honking and still not budging, I would have said fuck it and taken the spot myself.

Oh God, the people with their blinkers on in parking lots make me cringe.
Yes, heaven forbid people actually use features on their cars intended to signal their plans to other drivers. Instead, we should all just keep using our middle fingers to do all of our signalling.

Pretty much this. I am almost a pacifist when it comes to defensive driving. I'll leave room for people who have proven they are right to access what it is they are trying for, be it a parking spot, opportunity to pass, access to left lane, etc etc etc. I'll speed, and I'll take the stance when I am first, but in general know how to play along.

But idiots, they get my blood to simmer. Ugh, I cannot stand idiots on the road, and put a challenge to me so marked up that it's hard to not just road rage them. I loathe road rage though, no place for it - but a little bit to make sure somebody has understood the point, I've done that.

Sometimes I don't even bother because I can tell they are so oblivious to the realities and rules of driving, that I'll never be able to teach these people without actually sitting down with them.

The whole concept of highway driving, or even high-speed driving, seems lost on people. Drive on right, pass on left. Don't travel in the left if that means you are holding up faster traffic, and especially don't travel at the same damn speed as traffic in the right lane, not if there is a line of traffic that would like to go faster.

Encountered that problem like 3 times on my last trip up from Cinci, and both times I was able to get the right lane person to understand what needed to be done before the left lane person did anything. A whole lane of people on the left, I decide it looks like the person in the right might just be going ever so slightly faster, so I swing over there. Both left and right lane drivers are basically next to each other... then the driver on the right pulled away and jumped in the left lane. I greatly appreciated that, right-lane driver... got me away from that retard in the left lane.

This, but I would have waved & flashed brights instead of honk. After two each I would have shrugged and taken it.
