I am so pissed right now. A pixel on my KDS Rad 5 is now always red. I cant stand looking at it anymore on my black background, plus I have AT set to use the black and blue color scheme. Hopefully the warranty will take care of this since I have only had it for about a month and a half.:|

Sorry for the rant.

<< massage it dude, sometimes that works

no joke
>>

Can I assume it's a LCD monitor?
If it is, yes, massaging it sometimes "unsticks" pixels
Just don't put your finger through the screen

I don't know if they'll exchange it for one stuck pixel. Most companies have a threshold of xx number of dead/stuck pixels before they will replace it. My SGI 1600SW even has one stuck pixel (red, actually) and after a while you'll get used to it.

It's inherent with the technology i'm afraid. :(

That warranty is pretty vague as to whether the dead pixel would be covered. I'm not sure it would be a defect or bad quality workmanship. Call their 800 number tomorrow and ask them?

I was planning on calling them tomorrow, but I wanted to see what you guys thought about their warranty. I hate vaguely written warranties.

hmmm it depends on their definition of "defective". In LCD industry, a few dead pixels(depending on location of the defect too) often doesn't constitutes as defective.

wow I thought I was mad when pixel when bad on my 17" dell lcd, although I got the ebay seller to replace it since I had only had if for a very short time, but n8magic... I could never imagine how mad I would be with a bad pixel on the sgi lcd... for all that money I would definatly rage.

minendo, might I ask where you picked up your lcd from? I bought one from wallmart and had all sorts of troubles with it, just kept taking them back till I got one that worked normally... You could always be a prick and go and buy one there, put yours in the box and take it back...

I actually got it from Walmart. I have had it for almost two months, actually probably 6 or 7 weeks and this is the only problem I have run into. It's a great monitor and I just hate having to look at that d@mn red pixel. The odd thing is that it is only viewable on a black background.

You're not being a prick. This is considered a fraudulent merchandise return. Yet another reason why I'm in complete favor of merchants keeping the serial # until the end of the return period.

IBM has a threshold of 12 or 15 don't remember now... so one might not be considered a defect.
