Partly my fault... anyway, so I downloaded the Win2k beta drivers for the Intel Pro Webcam earlier this year (after a long period of time where they had no support for Win2k) and finally got around to installing them just now. I went back to the site to check if there were updated drivers, saw the date of the file and it was the same as mine, so I figured, hell it's the same thing, no need to redownload.
I go and install it, and during the installation process, Win2k crashes and reboots itself. During scandisk, a bunch of files are corrupt, mostly the Intel Webcam drivers, so I go and try installing the drivers again, and again there's a crash.
So I go back to the site, and find that the name of the file no longer includes the word beta in it. So if the file was cs2023betawin2k, it was now cs2023win2k which I hadn't noticed before. I go ahead, download it and installed. Not sure if it works yet, but everything looks good, I just have to get my hands on some webcam32 software so I can try it out.
Anyway, even with the beta drivers, they shouldn't have crashed my machine like that... I'm just glad everything's still running now, although I have some .chk files...
