some of you might now, a few days ago, my PSU died and shocked my motherboard along with it. im left with a dead PSU and K7S5A. well, i just called Neocomputers (place i bought my system from) since my parts were all still under warranty. to keep it short, the guy said "those type of issues are not covered by warranty". he blamed my house power and said there was probably a power spike or brown out. he could be right, but i was using a surge protector and nothing in my house at all reacted differently when my computer died.

i had my other HP system running on the same surge protector, the monitors on, my speakers playing music. everything in my house, the TV and lights had no reaction to the "brown out". the weather was fine as well.

im kind of sad, i had a bond with that motherboard, i might take her up to fremont this weekend to see if ECS will replace it, since Neocomputers wont.

thanks for reading, my rant of the day.

That sucks. Do you have a really cheap surge protector or is it of decent quality? And I think that guy should have at least checked it out before saying no. You should raise hell or ask to speak to a supervisor b/c if it was a faulty PS they supplied they should have to pay/warranty your stuff

That is total crap.. Id be calling them back and giving them a complete ear full... if they said it's under warranty, and your other computer is working fine on the same surge protector it's quite obvious they should honour it... losers. :|

I dont think its the power supply that was faulty. i jsut think they gave me a really cheap generic one, but that doesnt mean it just breaks and they dont cover it. its still within the 1-year warranty.

if i do call them back, what do i say? ive never given anybody an ear full before, i tend to be as polite as i can on the phone when calling service. perhaps thats why ATI never gave me my rebate, and never returned my call

If you're gonna call them back, stay polite, but stand your ground, if they gave you a pos powersupply, let them fix your pos powersupply
