Let me just put this out there to see if I'm the only one that has experienced this bizarre (and extremely ANNOYING) phenomena. Has anyone else here been through a multi-part interview process where the primary person in charge of doing the hiring/interviewing goes on vacation in the middle of it? As in, there is an initial interview, and a second and possibly third interview, and somewhere in the middle the person just up and goes on vacation? Today makes the third time this has happened to me since February. Do they PLAN this?!?! "Hmmmm, let's make sure we coordinate posting and filling this position with my vacation time." The previous two times, I didn't even have a heads up. The people just flat out stopped responding to emails and phone calls, apparently vanishing from the face of the Earth. This is after telling me that I was in the running and one of their top three picks from hundreds of resumes and several interviews....... only to leave me hanging for over a month after the fact. Afterwards I'd receive a short, terse, "piss off, we picked someone else a week ago" email. Am I the only one seeing this? I think the dot com days really turned companies against candidates since the tables are turned now :(

I've not heard of that happening, but I can't say I'm surprised. A lot of companies are hiring continuously, and vacation is vacation. I doubt they would worry too much about going in the middle of the process. Where I work they wouldn't accept one of the HR persons stopping the entire hiring process for a month just to avoid having vacation in the middle of someone's hiring process.

On the other hand, a good friend of mine had finished the third interview for a big position a few months back, and when she hadn't heard anything for a couple of weeks she called the company. Turns out the HR person died! The secretary said they weren't going to hire anyone until they got a new HR person, so she went to look elsewhere for a job.

Well, at least they had a good reason for once. Wish I could say the same for the places I'm dealing with!

Dude, welcome to my world. I have been on so many interviews and been given so many excuses it's not even funny.

"The thing is, I got your voicemail, stored it in a directory and then I forgot where I put it"

"There was a mixup in the paper work but I'm going to make sure it get's corrected and I'll call you back right away"

"I'm going to talk to my boss and I'll call you back within 48 hours"

"We went with someone that was more qualified for the job" <----- this one for for a job that I was overqualified for

The list goes on and on my friend. You have no idea how much it pisses me off how unprofessional companies are today. I swear if I ever hit it big (like Bill Gates) I'm going buy out all the companies that have treated me like crap and bury them. I'll hire all the employees except the HR folk and anyone else who makes the hiring decisions. I'll make it my mission to throw them out into the streets so that they can die alone and pennyless.

Cougar <--------- No, I'm not bitter that I haven't found a job yet:disgust:
