I hate you. Your company needs to hire real programmers. They need to learn how to correctly implement driver software.

I recently bought a Hercules Game Theater XP. It is awesome and my complaint isn't with them. It is with Creative labs. I uninstalled their hardware and removed their device from the hardware profile(I forgot about the software it installs).

Today I was doing some cleaning of my hard drive and noticed that Creative software were still on my hard drive. I went and uninstalled them with the Creative uninstall. That should affect anything else right? WRONG. Instead of only removing their hardware out of device options they blow out all my sound devices. This includes some software that installs itself as a device. That means I had to reinstall not only my GTXP but 2 pieces of software all because Creative is full of idiots.....

How hard is it to leave a system alone except remove your hardware drivers? I don't think it should be that hard. Of couse I am a programmer by trade so I expect a little bit more form a company the size of Creative labs.

Take it easy, man. Maybe you just need to take a deep breath and spend the evening somewhere outside.

Well this is the type of thing I expect like 6 years. Not now. I don't expect a piece of software to affect other pieces of hardware.

Creative's software should only mess with creative devices......simple as that. I am fine. It just annoys me to no end when a company releases software that does this type of thing.

hey, i work for Creative Labs...stop bashing them (actually, keep on bashing them, i couldn't care less).

But I don't program for them, I'm just a quality assurance tester...has absolutely nothing to do w/ their programmers.

...and is it that hard to reinstall some software? geez, stop whining about little things.

I like Creative Products but consider their software to be massively bloated and intrusive for the most paet. I find that a brute force regedit is usually required to remove unwanted Creative crap effectively.

Ya know, I don't like it when things don't work either, but that's the way it is.
You can live a life where everything that's wrong makes you mad, or you can take a *healthier* route and realize that life is pretty good if this is all we have to bitch about. After 40 years I realized that I'm just like my step-father and have been automatically getting angry at everything that's wrong, but not putting anywhere near the same amount of attention or energy into appreciating what's good or right.
It's a quality of life issue and it's up to you to either leave your hot buttons wired or to disconnect them.

It's just one near monopoly taking a cue from another near monopoly.

God when did people all the sudden become psychiatrists? I don't think you know nearly enough about me to make that dumb comment like this. Did this creative issue piss me off? Yes. Did it ruin my day or cause undue stress? No.

I don't get angry with much. Do I get angry at things that waste my time when I have no control? Yes.

You are trying to read WAY too much into someones post.......

I also dislike their intrusive software, as well as their piss-poor driver download policy. I dislike it so much that I really don't intend to buy any Creative products in the future.

LOL this is some funny stuff. People telling me to relax. When did you start to be able to see that I am not relaxed, I hope you aren't my neighbor. I didn't mean to put that hole in your wall. :p Come on guys. No need to relax. I am fine. Like I have already said, I don't get mad often. I just don't like when my time is wasted because of someone else's stupidity. It wasted 30 minutes of my life. I guess I can look at it this way. I have wasted at least this much time on the forums today :) But at least I made that choice.

Yeah a FORMAT C: is always an option :) Not needed this time. I usually wipe my system about every 6 months. I usually use a ghost image but I need to start from scratch next time since I have a different hardware profile then make a new image.

Yeah it was a crappy PCI128. I don't know what possessed me to buy it in the first place. I guess I loved my original SB16 so MUCH. It was a full length ISA card. This is only my 3 sound card in 13 years :)

It really gets old trying to d/l their drivers. It used to say you were like # 680 in line for download; now it just says to leave the window open and it will check each minute to que you in line. However this still takes *Hours* to move up where you can get an actual file to d/l. And I haven't found anywhere else to d/l their current driver.

After having various Creative soundcards since 1992, I'm now just waiting for a good price on a TB Santa Cruz so I can once and for all be rid of Creative :)

its the reason I bought a Turtle beach santa cruz, used all creative products for many years, just had too many hassles with the drivers and software screwing themselves and other programs up. It's in the details
