<RANT>
Yeah, I've finally realized that I just don't think I can take another miserable routine in my life. I'm not talking about a career because I most definitely want that but I feel if I get a job as a teenager, I'll lose all my time to be creative. What should I do? I've passed up numerous jobs for numerous reasons, mainly because I can't talk to people or deal with the public, major fvcking problem. I'm not lazy (or at least I don't think so) so it's not that what's making me procrastinate. The only job I can really do is do something with my computer or something technological. Burger joints and things to do with food aren't my fortay hence I suck at my job. The only thing I've been good at was washing dishes but it seems I can't find a job that will just leave me secluded with the dishes and not talk to anyone. There was a job that offered good hours but you had to talk to the geriatrics who are known to insult and sometimes turn violent.

(Sigh) I don't want to be a goldbricker but it's turning out that way.

Just do what I do: keep going to school.

Graduating next Spring, probably law school after that, then the military, then an MBA program somewhere. :D By then I'll have the skills and experience to do whatever I want. As long as it's accounting or tax affiliated.

Damn!

I agree with Koing - I've finally found a path that I am interested in pursuing. I took an accounting class this summer, and I've loved it. I am also interested in studying law - probably tax law, as it's the logical extension of a combination of law and accounting.

Find out stuff you're interested in, then go to school for it. It doesn't have to be easy, or even necessary fun - if you find it interesting and you're skilled at it, then do it!

Follow what Orsorum said.

Just do stuff that you enjoy. Work and money can come later. Do things that make you happy. Making money doesn't make you happy if you can not bar the job you are doing :(

Wow, I'm totally getting the opposite response from my parents. They're saying suck it up and sh!t. They keep pressuring me to get a job and I know I'd enjoy the money but I value time higher than money.

Make your own job where you can be creative and do what you enjoy. Nobody said you had to limit yourself by working for someone else.

Nah, don't worry. Soon you'll have to put a roof over your head and you won't have a choice anymore.

then show your parents that you're doing something constructive with your time other than bitching on ATOT. If they see that, they'll leave you alone.

Heh, I just don't want to lower myself to working with food, I can't take that sh!t. I used to work at a body shop but since I never got my license, he couldn't use me anymore and hired someone else. That was a blow to the nuts. I made $50 a day under-the-table.

You ARE lazy. It's obvious by a lot of your posts.

Your parents are right - get a job. It builds character and you learn valuable life lessons.

I do. Hell, I'm involved in the production of a game and a movie right now but they don't seem to think much of it. I don't think the movie will happen because the dude is too busy. That's a whole different story to get into.

You sound depressed a little. Maybe try an anti-depressant from your local psychiatrist.

uh....you are aware that you're gonna have to talk to people at some point in your sad life aren't you?

Are you going for the guiness book's largest tumor? The record holder was afraid of society and stayed secluded in the woods til this tumor in her stomach became the size of a VW bug. Do you think that if you avoid speaking to people AND bitch and moan and bother people on the internet you have the possibility of leading an even more pathetic existence than her?

You could just stick with school... but I think you should learn to speak and deal with people eventually anyway.

I just want you to get a job where you're forced to stand on your feet and talk to people. That'll take care of two of your problems.

Heh. I really don't know why I'm the way I am. I see the same traits portrayed in my mom: someone yells at her and she's very upset for about three days. That is, unfortunately, the way I am too. I can't fvcking help that I'm that sensitive and I wish words couldn't harm me as much as they do and I was a hard-ass but they do and it sucks.

I'm telling you, I'm not lazy. I do honestly enjoy physical activity but lately it's been in the 90's here prohibiting me to go outside.

Your mom is sensitive to how people react to her. I am too.

Part of all of this is just getting out there and doing the grunt work - I worked retail for three years in high school, and I can tell you, I took my fair share of sh!t from people. After a while, you learn to dissociate yourself from peoples' perception or reaction to you.

If you ever want the ultimate challenge, go to college and be a Resident Adviser. That'll teach you a couple things about dealing with people.
