alright. so i started playing lacrosse again this year after taking a break from it last year. i had never played for this coach before, when i made the decision to start playing.

anyways, the season started out good. i was doing well, things were enjoyable and pretty relaxed. i play JV, which means there is a varsity team that also plays. as one of the players on the JV team, i am required to watch the varsity games. if i dont, a set of running will be the punishment, enforced at the next practice. this is okay, in my opinion, except that the only time i miss the varsity games is because i am doing homework. i am doing homework because i need to (so i can go to bed at a reasonable hour), as well as the fact that my parents tell me to come home and do this homework. so in a sense, i miss a varsity game, and i am punished for doing my homework (keep in mind that this is a school team). i find this to be complete and utter bullsh!t.

today, we have a unique situation. our game was supposed to be away today, but the JV game was cancelled. only the varsity game is on, and it is still away. the coach's rationale for why we need to "be at the game, no excuses" is that the varsity watches us, so we must watch them. well today, it's raining out, the game is away, and we arent even playing. and yet, as far as i know, we are still required to go. if we miss it, running will ensue.

what do you guys think?

I'd take the running if I had other more important things that needed to be done. Otherwise just suck it up and go.

I find it hard to believe that you have so much homework you must do it right after school in order to be in bed on time. Go to the game, come home and do your work, go to bed.

If you're in good enough shape to play LaCrosse, what's the big deal about running? I would take running over wasting my time watching a game that I was not going to be playing in.

the running isnt the point. in fact, if anyone can do the running on the time, i can do it easily. it's the concept of it. understand? basically, should i be punished for putting school ahead of an extra-curricular activity which is school based, and wouldnt exist without the school?

While I agree that your school work should come first, the coach didn't ask my opinion. Either follow his rules, or stop playing.

anyways, i am fine with going to the games. it's not a big deal to me. however, my parents want me home doing my homework. i should have made that more clear. should i be punished for a) putting my school work first, and b) because of what my parents tell me to do?
