Rant/Help: My health insurance sucks

If anyone can recall the thread where I screwed my my head here

One month later ... my head is still broke, and my insurance will not let me see a specialist outside of their "network". What to do? I gave them a month to figure out whats wrong and I still have the same problems. It sucks, I cant really copy notes in class, I get extremely dizzy when I look up and down quickly.

What to do? There a 3rd party I can use as a "referee" for these kinds of situations? This is university health insurance, since this is all I can get since my mom is unemployed. I guess this is one of those "you get what you pay for" deals.

Walk into the nearest emergency room or urgent care and let them know your problem. Don't be hesitant to exaggerate, if necessary. They are, in most states, required by law to give you medical treatment. Don't worry about what it "might" cost you. If you don't have any money they can't get anything out of you. You sound like you need medical help immediately. It's up to you.

All health insurance sucks unless you pay them large gobs of money every month. You may just have a concussion, which can take up to 3 or 4 months to feel completely better from. Do a search for doctors who answer questions by way of e-mail on-line, look up information on head injuries or something along those lines.

I used the ER last year for another unrelated incident ( no comments). They hunted me down til they threated to put it to a collection agency and kill my credit rating. No need for such bull again. I paid them a fair amount and they wanted more.

Do what ever you have to do to make the bums help you..whats your personal doctor doing to correct this outrage?

Nothing. He says I'm just dehydrated. I call bull on that, since I'm drinking loads of water daily.

Personally, I put my health and well being way ahead of my credit rating. What good is your credit going to do you if you can't use it? Your values are sorely misplace. Like I said, do what you want.

I dont think this is an ultra emergency that I need to use the resources of the ER. I would use an urgent care or a specialist but I dont have that option.

You don't want advice, you want sympathy, or attention. Begone.

Is yours a HMO?

I had a few options when I got my insurance. I have to chip in $45 ever 2 weeks just for myself but I like my PPO.

Now I need medical treatment, low blow to my ego.

Cripes, all I wanted was to know to get a HMO to give me access to other specialists, since the ones within the network arent covered by my plan. Do I write letters? Call the boss? Cry?

$5 co-pay for everything. Doc, gyno, chiropractor, dentist, prescription... only $5. 😀

wow, even chiropracter? do you work for the state or something?

Darn right they suck!

My daughter has seizures and they want us to drive down to ST. Louis for the doctor.

Now that?s about a 6 hour drive from where I live! Ahhh!

But yeah they suck. We are switching to the PPO it cost more but we can choose what doctor we go to.

HMO's only pay for what their doctor approves. You have to pay out of pocket for anything not approved. Did you get a cat scan or whatever it is that scans your brain for stuff?
