Hey, Mr DO IT YOURSELFER, Just because your headlights go out, doesnt mean you can fix it properly! Nope! You remember that little screw or bolt you were turning that "wasnt doing anything"?? Welp, you piece of garbage, it actually adjusts the ANGLE OF YOUR HEADLIGHTS! Amazing. So after you realized it didnt do what you wanted it to do, you tried a different one and finally changed your headlight. Unfortunatley now for all us other drivers, you've got one light angled into our fvcking eyes, blinding us. Specially me who is light sensitive in the first place. No really, I appreciate it. I mean why the FVCK should you care if you're bothering anyone, or bother to readjust your headlights to the proper angle? You're in YOUR CAR and you're a FVCKING WHITE RHINO! INVICIBLE! Nothing you do effects anyone else on the road RIGHT?! Also, those things called "PARKING LIGHTS", yeah, the thing that looks like a P that's startled? There's a reason they're called PARKING lights, they're not used for driving around. If you're gonna make the goddamn effort to turn the headlight switch one notch, you can clearly turn it one more notch to normal headlight operation, or are you too busy combing your mullett and listening to Dexter's Midnight Runners? This goes for you sonovabitches that pretend like they're cool by just turning on the PARKING lights in the rain, snow and at dusk. Oh, and for those of you that think you dont need to turn on your lights when it's raining or snowing? you're fvcking wrong. I hope someone pulls out in front of you because they didnt see you and you rear end them... then you're precious Yugo will be no more and your insurance will go up.

The anger is there, but it needs more cursing. Good effort overall.

I still like the people that have headlights illuminating the underside of overpasses. That always cracks me up. If its aimed up that high at least most people won't be blinded.

I still say there should be a maximum height headlights can be off the ground much like there's a minimum.

It's DEXIE'S MIDNIGHT RUNNERS, and most people with mullets don't listen to them. They listen to "free bird", Metallica, Guns & Roses, 80's Hair Metal and the like.

I don't know about that, no paragraphs. Maybe the OP just doesn't have their heart into the rant.

Dont' most new cars require you to change the bulb from the inside? So need for a screw driver at all.

A lot of states do have such laws.

I often use parking lights when it's not dark enough to warrant full lights. Would you rather have me not turn on any lights until I feel that full lights are warranted?

A rant with paragraphs, is no rant of mine.

I do this too. I don't see anything wrong with that. Does it affect anyone ?

BTW, for the headlights, there's a bulb casing for headlights in my truck... the bulb pops in and out of it so there's no height adjusting to be done... I wish everyone's was like this so there would be no blinding.

It affects someone who sees your parking lights on, and assumes that your car is therefore PARKED. And then hits it because it was moving. Just turn your headlights on, why would that be a problem?

It's illegal to drive with just your parking lights on.

That's how they are now. Sealed beams went the way of the Do-Do many many years ago, like late 80's.

California Vehicle Code Division 12 Chapter 2 Article 4:

Lighted Parking Lamps
24800. No vehicle shall be driven at any time with the parking lamps lighted except when the lamps are being used as turn signal lamps or when the headlamps are also lighted.

Care to find out if there's a max height headlights can be off the ground?

First of all, I didn't even know they were for parking... I thought of them as being useless... I wouldn't think that a car with them on is parked. Seems it's the old-school way of thinking (and i'm not exactly young)
Q: MARTHA ASKS WHAT ARE THE PARKING LIGHTS ON HER CAR GOOD FOR? THEY SEEM TO BE COMPLETELY USELESS

A: GREAT QUESTION MARTHA. WE CALLED TRIPLE-A FOR YOUR ANSWER. IT SAYS PARKING LIGHTS USED TO FUNCTION AS A SAFETY MECHANISM FOR VEHICLES PULLING OFF THE HIGHWAY, BUT EMERGENCY FLASHERS HAVE PRETTY MUCH REPLACED THAT.

IT ALSO SAYS PARKING LIGHTS WERE ORIGINALLY RECOMMENDED FOR THE TRANSITION PERIOD FROM DAY TO NIGHT, BUT THE CURRENT ADVICE IS USE HEADLIGHTS AT ALL TIMES. SO THE ANSWER IS PARKING LIGHTS ARE NOT OF GREAT USE ANYMORE.
Basically they are useless... I put them on because it's better than nothing when conditions are in the middle. Lights go on in the back too. Sure I can have the headlights on at the same time but since I have the option, I don't. Show me the NYS law and I'll stop doing it... for real.

That's kind of silly -- who would assume that I am parked just because of my choice of headlights when I am in fact moving?

I'd like to find out if that's a law in NY...

Yeah I'd like to find out too. California is very tight-assed with their laws.

What is the gripe with parking lights though?

Actually, you should turn on the headlights anyway. Parking lights are for driving in a parking lot or driveway at 2 MPH when you don't want to shine your headlights in anybody's windows, or possibly for marking your illegally/dangerously parked vehicle in lieu of, or in addition to, the 4-way flashers. I can't think of any other good use for them, since they really don't help other drivers notice you when everybody else has their proper headlights switched on.

Nothing's worse than the high end euro luxury sedans w/ their 5 million candle power blue high beam (and if that's regular beam, I don't want to know what high beam looks like), nothing.
