I'm currently living in an apartment with 3 other guys. I've known 2 of them for 2 years. The guy in question is a good friend of one of the other guys. Let's call him Dave just for the sake of this rant. While I had my doubts about him, we needed a 4th so we reluctantly accepted him. It's been tolerable so far despite his arrogance and spoiledness as he can't cook for ******. Not even a simple egg. He also does the least chores out of all of us because he has WoW raids 6 days a week in which he is too preoccupied. Because of his raids, we also bend our schedule around him so that we HAVE to do things in the afternoon so he can get back to the apartment in time for his raids. We've actually had to drive home really fast just so he can make his raids.
So last Sunday, we went to Costco and 99 Ranch Market (asian market) to restock our food supply. 2 weeks before, Dave had a raid so he could not go shopping with us so we told him that since he's not coming with us, he's paying for the trip. We spent $200 at Costco, exactly what we quoted him for. We also went to 99 Ranch, spending $30 there. I felt bad for him so I covered his purchase there. Fast forward back to last Sunday, it's my turn to pay for the Costco trip. Dave came along because we went hours before his raid. We ended up spending $117 which Dave thought was comparatively less than what we spent 2 weeks ago. The reason that happened was probably because we bought too much before in terms of eggs, vegetables, meat, and cereal which we opted not to buy this week.
We went to 99 where we spent another $30 of which some of them included food that Dave picked out for himself. None of us wanted it, just him. i.e. 6 pieces of ice cream balls for $4. Dave expected me to cover it because I paid too little for Costco. I said I was not going to cover personal food for him. He refused to pay his own food because he claimed he wasn't carrying cash. In the end, one of the other guys paid for it, but Dave felt that I was being stingy for not paying for the food. I still feel like I am justified. If it was food for all of us, I would be more than happy to cover it, but I'm not paying for food for Dave himself to enjoy. The sad part is that he even though he didn't pay for it, he complained when the other guys ate his ice cream.
What do you guys think? Do you think I was justified?
But seriously, he's really getting on my nerves. That's just one incident that's pissed me off, but the fact that he's not pulling his weight in terms of cooking and chores also ticks me off. In addition, because he can't cook of ******, he ends up eating all our instant food.
Cliffs:
1. Spoiled arrogant bastard
2. Expects me to pay for food that he picked out and wants to enjoy.
3. Doesn't pull his weight
