Rant: Extra Super Loud Music in the car.

What caused me to write this:

I work at a major highway as a toll collector, so I take care of hundreds of cars a day so if I make any claims, I know what I'm talking about.

I was driving in Newark today and hit a major traffic jam where the traffic was barely moving. Barely. I don't want to repeat it again, but barely. A Puerto Rican fella was behind me, I shouldn't need to say how I know as you know how proud they are. Not only was he in a POS car, but his music was so amazingly loud that my car was mirrors were shaking. The bass gave me such a headache. So there we all were, stuck in traffic and I'm sorry I don't have sound-proof windows with this guy acting like nothings wrong. What a disrespectful punk. I don't even understand how his ears could take all those decibels. Tapping away on his car roof. I wanted to get out and politely tell him to lower his music, but you never know when traffic would move the bit that was closer to leaving. 2 hours it was to cross 2 blocks. And this guy "boom, boom, boom" with his music.

It wasn't just this guy. Many Hispanic people do this. I'm not trying to insult anyone, all I want is whom ever does this, and you know who you are, to be a little bit more respectful to other people in extreme traffic situations and when paying a toll. I don't want my ears destroyed.

Thanks for reading.

Wait for traffic to clear up and take a page from COPS - PIT!

lol I hate it when the music is so loud that the panels of your car start to vibrate. Thats the worse cause it sounds really weird but really annoying

He'll be deaf by 30, if he lives that long without being taken out in a shootout or police chase, if it's any comfort.

Thats the nice part is that the damage he is doing to him self is pretty bad.

I also feel better ning that I should be able to hear the kids where as he will not.

To me it's not a 'race' issue, it has more to do with the music. From my experience, usually it's hip-hop.

Yep..

And I laugh when I think how they'll be deaf in 15 years time.

i don't get how being a toll collector makes you an expert at cars or loud music.

anyway it is annoying though you can get tickets for that kind of crap.

I usually turn my volume way up (but I have no subwoofer, otherwise my car will shake and I can't even hear the music). I never, ever have the windows down when I do this.

When I'm at a stop, or traffic jam, I turn it down just because I don't want people upset like the OP.

I may not be hispanic, but I think it would be a good peace of mind that there's respectful people out there that know how to enjoy themselves without pissing people off.

Much quicker than that. Usually by the time they hit 30 they have serious hearing damage. It doesn't take long at those volumes to do damage, it accumulates and they can't get their hearing back.

Pretty funny actually.

What do you do to deserve his respect?
What an improper question.

Everyone deserves respect or thoughtfulness, if that's a better word for you.

It's amazing his car didn't fall apart. 🙂

It would seem that way, but I've been noticing a rise in spanish music playing. Even two major hip-hop radio stations in New York have a designated time slot for spanish rap. And so has the rise in spanish music bein played on the street. And it's way louder than any hip-hop touting Cadillac.

Since I'm a toll collector and take hundreds of cars a day, I notice trends and certain things that annoy me. What else am I gonna do in my little cubicle. Good money though.

I do have a subwoofer and I do turn the volume up with the windows and sunroof back.. the difference is I have the power down on my sub so that I can actually hear the music.. and even then it can kind of be obnoxiously loud. So... when I come to a stop I generally turn the volume down on my deck.
