RANT: Ethernet Cards make your internet go faster?

This guy has been bugging the hell out of me asking for windows drivers for his ethernet card. Which I don't have. It's a D-Link card and the drivers from D-Link.com didn't work. So he's been pissing the hell out of me, if I don't block him on AIM, he calls me..

So then I ask, why do you want / need an ethernet card? He goes, "So my DSL will go faster." OMFG, he doesn't believe me when I say it doesn't, fscking idiot.

tell him i'll sell him one of my belkin NICs for 10 bucks + shipping and it'll go twice as fast as the D-Link one 😀
 
What does he use right now? USB? Internet connections over USB are usually slower than over an ethernet connection. Also, USB connections are not as reliable.

This is mainly because of the overhead of having the host drive the usb connection and also because of inefficient and buggy drivers by the modem manufacturers.
 
Whenever I have free PCI slots I throw in extra NICs to increase internet processing power...it's like parallel internet processing...ya know?

Tell him to get a Gigabit NIC + switch, including glassfiber cabling, and to paint his computer in faster colours, then if he actually does that take him to parties just to make fun of him in front of all your friends.
