it really grinds my gears when companies do this. you become an edjumicated consumer, diligently researching products and prices on the internet, and visiting various websites looking for the best deal.

you notice that online store X has product y for $x. in your research you notice that the B&M website has product y for $x+1. now any logical person would think B&M website equals the B&M store and that the convenience of the store being just down the street would be better than waiting two business days for the product from the online store.

in comes...i dunno...assholery. you visit the B&M store only to see the price not $x+1, but $x+15. i do understand the cost of shipping the product to the stores; the cost of rent; and the cost of paying some pimply faced, holier-than-thou, why-are-you-coming-into-this-store, mouth breathing, dillhole. but i don't see how that can correlate to the same place charging $15 more at a store than online. especially when you have a print out of the product, from the B&M website, for the price of $x+1. how can you not honor that price?

this has happened to me twice now. <^>

Luckily Circuit City promises the same price B&M as online. It is working out quite well for them from what I understand.

Hey, thanks!

Thats me, by the way.

And BTW, ask about their PM policy. Staples will PM any price found on their site.

And sometimes its not just them trying to get you. I put out the tags at my store every Sunday, and its hard getting every single tag for everything on sale. A laptop could be on sale for 3 days out of the week, something we usually dont usually find out until Sunday.

this wasn't really a true generalization. just a generalization about the staff at the GNC in carmel.

unfortunately i did ask about their PM policy. they had stated that they didn't match any internet specials even if it came from their own website.

LOL... Best Buy doesn't PM their website or nearby stores either. At least mine doesn't.

Zen on Website: $69.99.
Zen At walmart: $89.99

Me: Um....you're going to price match this, right?
Them: Sorry, we don't do that.

I went through this a while back with Office Depot over some ink cartridges. They refused to match their own web price...so, I ordered them on-line for in-store pick up.
I had a long talk with the day manager about how stupid it was...essentially, their on-line business got credit for the sale...not the B&M store.

Now, they match their own website prices.

One of the large UK retail chains has prices listed on their website, and they specifically have In Store price and Web price listed for items where the price differs, which is nice.
