RANT: Comp Sci students, are your classmates as brain-addled as mine seem to be?

Sorry, but I am one of those slackers unfortunately. FORTUNATELY though, I decided on a career change so I will be finishing college, still graduating under computer science but after graduation, I plan to do something total unrelated to the computer science field.

But it makes me wonder, I'm finding that all the socialogy, art, and business majors tend to get all the jobs that the Comp Sci majors desire....

Blame it all on H.R. but they tend to hire the people with the people skills rather than the people with programming skills.

So while those slackers are having fun and getting better "people skills," guys who work hard, study hard, and sacrifice "people skill learning time" (i.e. partying, clubbing) are the ones who are jobless and collect unemployment (if you're lucky).

Um, no

You don't get a job by blowing off the class project to go clubbing. If you are having trouble with people skills the first thing you need to do is stop treating people like you're better than them because you know computers and they don't.

Working hard and studying hard doesn't make you hard to relate to. Expecting to socialize with people you feel are as smart as you and ignoring people you feel are inferior to you is what causes you to suck at the people skills.

If you graduate with a good GPA and aren't a condescending @sshole you won't be passed over for a party guy who can't code.

Just my experiance from school and work.

Edit: As to the OP i feel your pain. There's nothing worse than people who wont pull thier own weight. I figure you'll come across them all your life so you can't really expect school to be any different. Just be sure that if you can pull it together and get the project done in spite of all the garbage you are developing some good leadership skills for the future. Just chew them out when they complain about having bad grades, that'll make you feel better.
