RANT: Bank of America / Fleet

I've been with Bank of America for a couple months now and I can say with honesty and experience that I hate them more then I have ever hated any company I have ever done business with.
First...they replace my old debit card (gold colored) and credit card (blue clolred) with identicaly colored cards. The only major difference is that one says debit in the corner. Isn't there one person with half a brain in the entire company that could say "hey, maybe we should make them look just a little different so you don't have to study the flippin card every time you use it?"
Second, their online system must have been designed by a retarded monkey on crack, because it takes three tries to log in and required a call just to set up.
Third, and worst, I can't even get my BANK OF AMERICA CREDIT CARD linked to my BANK OF AMERICA BANK ACCOUNT because of the previously mentioned online banking system. Best of all, while all of this nonsense has been taking place, they have not sent me statements, in the mail or online, and as a result I "missed a payment" even though I had no way to pay the damn thing. So now I've been on hold for half an hour with no end in sight to set that up after making a call this morning to find out why my card was rejected when I went to use it yesterday. All this after they took the whole system down for four days to make the change. IDIOTS.

EDIT: AHH...just got off the phone and they have to send me a MAILER through the POST OFFICE with a CONFIRMATION NUMBER that I need to call to VERIFY THAT I GIVE MY CONSENT TO CONNECT THE ACCOUNTS. MOTHERFVCKERS.

EDIT 2: A week later and still no mailer, so I decide to try and pay through the old Fleet site. Well, it's not there, it says I should try the Bank of America site. Fvck that, I decide to call, but no, they need my checking account number, which I don't keep on me at all times, because I can ususally just PAY MY STUPID BILL ONLINE. But the good news is they have AGAIN MARKED ME AS PAST DUE ON A PAYMENT I HAVEN'T BEEN ABLE TO MAKE BECAUSE OF THEM.

my only rant was setting up online access for BOA...the user id had to be a 9 - 20 number...no characters allowed...WTF kinda of BS is that?

weird in live in NJ and i've had very few problems with the change. of course i'm still using the old homelink site. mb i haven't gone thru the change yet.

yes, i did get the new fleet cards and yes, they are somewhat similar looking.

the only real problem i had with them was when i was in LA, CA and had to deposit a check. only the supervisor at the bank could get it done because the two systems are not completely integrated yet.

but i was orginally with Summit and then Fleet bought out summit so this is my second change over in the last 5 yrs.

I never had a problem during the changeover. In fact, BoFA gave me a great incentive to transfer balances over to them when they took Fleet.

I agree its stupid.. i have to use my S.S number to log in and then when asked about to put a password it could only be like 6 characters. I emailed them about it and then later on they change that to make it bigger but i'm still logging in with my Social security as my user ID.

I made a $150 purchase yesterday and it was denied, so I called. They said there was a concern that a $12.94 charge from ARCO might be fraud. I, too, and a dissatisfied customer. Looking to switch to Citibank.

Hmmm I have them, have a CC and debt card through them. I have had good experience with them, their online banking is one of the best I've used.

yeah this is utter bs. my initial bank was bankboston, but that got bought out by fleet, which in turn was bought out by BofA. between the two transitions I was charged some weird monthly fees because my old plan was incompatible with the new plans they offered (or whatever).

it's good to hear that I'm not the only one pissed off with their retarded numeric user id requirement...

the only saving grace is that there are BofA atms all over nyc.

I haven't had a problem with them since the merge. Still using the old Fleet Homelink system, and everythings fine.

I'll cross that road when I get there. If anything goes wrong, I'll be on my way to Citibank to open up a new account.

the online system is getting updated on july 31st. i imagine all the bugs and problems and whatnot will be fixed by then. also i believe you should be able to link your CC to your bank account by then.

I made a few hundred $ off the change when I installed their new computers.

I would never bank with those jokers though.

Same here. Once BoA bought them out the first few days the staff changed over I went to cash a check, got back about HALF of what I was suppost to. Took an hour of complaining to many different people before they finally counted the register, redid all the checks and found that they had the extra what I was missing.

That same day I went to commerce bank and never looked back. Commerce bank over here kicks total ass. TOTAL ass! Their hours are incredible aswell.

I worked for bank of america for about 5 years. One thing you can be sure of, the update will break more things than it fixes.

wow, I have been with B of A for over 8 years and never had a single problem. Took me 5 min to setup my online banking, and that includes linking my B of A credit card (which has never been the same color as my debit). You can do all sorts of cool things online, like uploading about any pic you want, cropping, and they mail you a new card with that pic taking up the entire left side of the card for free (I have a honeymoon pic up of my wife and I).

Sorry for your issues, I've never had them.

I'm about ready to cancel this stupid card by going into my nearest bank and lighting it on fire (the card, not the bank).
